Week 3 NFL Survivor Picks

Things got a little interesting in Week 2. The Dallas Cowboys tried as hard as they could to knock a slew of entries out but thanks to the leg of Brandon Aubrey, we advanced. Staying away from the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions proved to be a poor choice as the favorites continued to emerge victorious. While it’s boring, it’s not exactly a bad thing. The worst advice though was to fade the Buffalo Bills as the New York Jets looked absolutely dreadful. Now, let’s proceed as if that’s the case as we dig into some Week 3 NFL Survivor Picks.

Week 3 NFL Survivor Picks

1. Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins – Bills -11.5

This time, we aren’t going to ignore the Buffalo Bills. They needed an electric fourth-quarter comeback to defeat the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1. But last week, things were much different. We needed all of about four minutes to know that the New York Jets didn’t have a chance in a blowout loss to the Bills.

In a short week, the vast difference between the Bills and the Miami Dolphins will be heightened. The Dolphins simply looked out of place and overmatched in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Last week, the final score was a lot closer against the New England Patriots, but the Dolphins still lost in their home opener.

If Drake Maye and Daniel Jones can average 237 passing yards to begin the season, what can Josh Allen do? The Dolphins are 27th with 390 yards allowed per game, while the Bills are averaging 453 yards per game. This is far from a good matchup for the road Dolphins.

2. Green Bay Packers vs. Cleveland Browns – Packers -7.5

Including the trade for Micah Parsons, everything has been working perfectly for the Green Bay Packers to begin the season. Their defense has been close to unstoppable, and that success has come against offenses a lot better than the Cleveland Browns.

Jordan Love has been dialed in to begin the season, and when combined with Josh Jacobs, the Packers are sixth in the league with 27 points per game. Jayden Reed is out with a collarbone injury, but Love has other options at his disposal, and Tucker Kraft has also stepped up. Cleveland is allowing 29 points per game, and while they’re going to try to be competitive, this likely won’t be a fair matchup.

3. Seattle Seahawks vs. New Orleans Saints – 7.5

As they traveled east for an early start, the Seattle Seahawks had an impressive victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Kenneth Walker had a strong game, and Sam Darnold got going from a passing perspective.

Playing in Seattle is never easy for any quarterback, but I’d expect Spencer Rattler to struggle. The Saints have been competitive and come close to winning this season (both at home), but they are 0-2. There’s something in the NFL about being what your record is, and that comes into play here.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Jets – Buccaneers -6.5

Last week, as they lost to the Bills, the New York Jets didn’t even look like a professional football team. To say they were overmatched would be an understatement. The Jets continued to have costly penalties and make mistakes that, quite frankly, they shouldn’t be making.

Across the field, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers return home after two hard-fought road victories to begin the season. As Justin Fields deals with a concussion, it will be an even tougher matchup for the Jets with Tyrod Taylor under center.

Aaron Rodgers looked a lot better in Week 1 against the Jets than he did last week. With Week 2’s matchup against the Bills decided very early on, it’s hard to focus on statistics for the Jets’ defense as Buffalo switched to a clock-killing mindset very early. The Jets are far from a finished product, and there are concerns on both sides of the ball.

With Baker Mayfield under center, the Tampa Bay offense continues to hum right along. Through two games, they are fifth in the NFL with 77 rushing yards allowed per game. As the Jets’ offense is focused on establishing the run, this isn’t the best matchup for them.

Week 3 NFL Survivor Fade

Kansas City Chiefs at New York Giants – Chiefs -6.5

The Kansas City Chiefs are clearly the better team here. A look at the standings says that both teams are 0-2, but can we really compare the Chiefs to the New York Giants? In all fairness, though, it’s the Giants that came closer to winning last week. By the same token, though, can we compare facing the Dallas Cowboys to the Philadelphia Eagles? But after the Eagles beat the Cowboys by just four points at home in Week 1, it might not be as crazy.

Isaiah Pacheco and the rushing game have yet to get going, and with Xavier Worthy hurt and Rashee Rice suspended, there are issues on the passing side as well. Through two games, the Chiefs are 18th in the league with 332 yards per game. That’s translated to 19 points a game, which is 24th overall.

Russell Wilson and the Giants showed something in Dallas, and if they carry that momentum into Week 3, they could be dangerous.
