We experienced some major injuries this week, with the biggest one being De’Von Achane tearing his ACL and missing the rest of the season. Breece Hall is also week-to-week with a quad injury.
If you aren’t dealing with injuries and are more so dealing with underperforming players, then you are in the right place. As we roll into Week 4, knowing who to start or sit is crucial, so let’s take a look at the quarterback and RB positions.

Quarterback Starts
Jared Goff, Detroit Lions (at Carolina Panthers)
Jared Goff has been flying under the radar with how great he has been playing. On the season, he has eight touchdowns and no interceptions, and his lowest-scoring performance is 16.4 fantasy points. His only downside is his rushing upside, but all you need is a quarterback to average 20 fantasy points per game, and you are solid. He has the Panthers this week, who are giving up an average of 20 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams (at Philadelphia Eagles)
Matthew Stafford is another quarterback who had a bad start in Week 1 but has turned it around since then. In Week 2, he put up 28 fantasy points, and in Week 3, he had 22.9. Those are elite numbers, and he has a great matchup against the Eagles this week. The Eagles just let Case Keenum dominate them. The Eagles’ defense is also giving up more than 20 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks.
Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints (vs. Atlanta Falcons)
This is one where you need to ride the hot hand. Tyler Shough has been elite in fantasy, averaging 24.1 fantasy points through three weeks. The Saints’ run game has been abysmal, so it has been Shough and his receiving corps keeping the team alive. Chris Olave has 375 yards and one touchdown on the season, while [Vele has 172 yards and three touchdowns.] Shough is going to show up once again this week.
Quarterback Sits
Bo Nix, Denver Broncos (at San Francisco 49ers)
I know Bo Nix came back against the Rams, and the 49ers almost blew the game against the Cardinals. But I am not a “Bo-liever.” Nix has an interception in each game this year and only has four touchdowns on the season. However, on the other side, the 49ers have still been elite against quarterbacks, only giving up 14.9 fantasy points per game. This is a road game where I would not start Nix.
Drake Maye, New England Patriots (at Buffalo Bills)
This is an easy answer every week. Do not start Drake Maye at all. Maybe if he had A.J. Brown healthy, you could start Maye if he had a good matchup, but he is awful. Maye has six interceptions and one touchdown this season. There is not much more to say than to stay away from Maye. When Romeo Doubs and DeMario Douglas are your WR1 and WR2 on your roster, then I wouldn’t expect much fantasy production.
Running Back Starts
Jeremiyah Love, Arizona Cardinals (at New York Giants)
Jeremiyah Love is officially here! He had 21 carries for 90 yards and 19 receiving yards with a touchdown last week. The big news is Tyler Allgeier only had two carries. Love is the clear No. 1 back, and it showed in an almost comeback against the 49ers. This week, he has the Giants, who just lost Brian Burns for the season.
Bucky Irving, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. Green Bay Packers)
This is a risky one, but with Baker Mayfield out, Jalon Daniels is going to have to find a safety blanket. Bucky Irving has yet to have an elite game this year, but the attempts are pushing him toward one. In three games this year, Irving has out-snapped Kenneth Gainwell 122 to 81. But the kicker is Irving is on the field for 33% of rush attempts compared with Gainwell’s 12%. Just last week, Irving was on the field for 42% of rush plays compared with Gainwell’s 9%. All signs point to Irving having a breakout game, and that will be against the Packers. The Packers are giving up the second-most fantasy points per game to RBs.
Chuba Hubbard, Carolina Panthers (vs. Detroit Lions)
Chuba Hubbard is turning into that fantasy player that saves your season. Hubbard is the clear No. 1 back in this offense, and his breakout role this year will happen this week. The Lions have been solid against the run, but Hubbard is one to take over this week.

Running Back Sits
Omarion Hampton, Los Angeles Chargers (at Seattle Seahawks)
This Chargers team is not it this year. Omarion Hampton is supposed to be the lead back in this backfield. Now, it looks like this backfield will have a solid committee, taking away carries from Hampton. This is also a terrible matchup for Hampton this week. The Seahawks are only giving up 13.9 fantasy points per game to RBs.
