When I started posting weekly MOP (Minus One Play) rankings last season, my goal was to find hidden value. And Chris Olave appeared like an angel and provided exactly the type of season-long arc I was looking for. He did not finish as a top-24 fantasy wide receiver in any of the first five weeks of 2025. Yet he finished inside the top 24 in the MOP rankings in four of those five weeks. Anyone who read the tea leaves and bought low made out like a bandit. Olave was the overall WR3 from Week 6 through the end of the 2025 season, excluding Week 18.
As we enter Week 6, I wanted to find this season’s Chris Olave. The player who is putting up serviceable numbers but has underwhelmed overall. That player should represent a potential buy-low opportunity. Truth be told, no single player pops in the MOP rankings the way Olave did at this time last season. But a couple of strong candidates have rest-of-season outlooks that could improve beginning this week. There are also some wolves in sheep’s clothing out there. They may look good based on year-to-date production. However, fantasy managers may want to sell high. I will touch on a few of these players and take a final look at the week that was with my Week 5 MOP rankings.

Week 5 MOP Rankings
Running Back Takeaways
Chase Brown hasn’t gotten off to the start many fantasy football managers envisioned. He has only one top-20 weekly fantasy finish to his credit and is the overall RB19 heading into Week 6. While it may feel a bit disingenuous to say that a borderline first-round fantasy pick is a buy-low candidate, some might get an itchy trigger finger after last week’s outing. Brown fumbled and ended up with fewer carries than his backfield mate. The Bengals have a Week 6 bye, which is another reason certain managers may get a bit antsy. I would advise those to stay the course with Brown. He has 95 touches through five weeks and will be back to producing RB1-caliber numbers sooner rather than later.

Wide Receiver Takeaways
The wide receiver who most closely resembles the usage profile of Olave from last season is Michael Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals. Last year, Olave caught 33 of 54 targets through Week 5, totaling 244 yards and one touchdown. So far in 2026, Wilson has caught 29 of 51 targets for 288 yards and a score. Wilson’s outlook should improve with Arizona’s trade of Marvin Harrison Jr. to the Houston Texans. Wilson and Trey McBride won’t slow down from a volume perspective anytime soon. I expect Wilson to be closer to a WR2 in 12-team leagues than a WR3 going forward.
Luther Burden III is another wideout on the cusp of breaking out into a trusted fantasy starter. Burden only has one touchdown and has yet to eclipse 63 receiving yards in any of his five games. As a result, he only has one top-36 weekly finish to his credit. However, Burden has hit that threshold in the MOP rankings in four of five games. Chicago’s offense should get an upcoming jolt with Caleb Williams returning. Considering Burden has had to deal with a rotating crew of quarterbacks to this point, I am not holding his lackluster results against him. Burden should be able to work his way up the overall wide receiver rankings in the coming weeks as long as Williams is under center.
There are some wide receivers on the fantasy leaderboard who I do not expect to maintain their current production. Darius Cooper of the Philadelphia Eagles profiles as an extreme outlier based on his underlying metrics. Cooper enters Week 6 as the overall WR31 in Half-PPR scoring. However, he ranks outside the top 80 wide receivers in total targets and in receptions. Cooper deserves credit for capitalizing on his opportunities thus far. And the Eagles have some favorable matchups coming up. But they have also played multiple games without DaVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert and still have Dontayvion Wicks and Makai Lemon in the mix. Cooper has been a great story, but he is not a breakout fantasy player. If anything, he is the Evil Olave.

Tight End Takeaways
Cooper is not the only Evil Olave out there, unfortunately. Mike Gesicki enters Cincinnati’s bye week as the overall TE9 in fantasy. Yet he finished in an infinite tie for last place among tight ends in the Week 5 MOP rankings because last week’s touchdown grab was his only catch of the day. It is his second week in the last four with zero MOP points. Gesicki has now finished outside the top-15 in MOP rankings in four straight weeks, including three of four outside the top-25. Gesicki is not a starting-caliber fantasy tight end in 10-and 12-team leagues. The volume is not going to be there compared to other streaming options, and negative touchdown regression is likely to hit hard. I would much rather have a player like Brenton Strange, whose volume has been ramping up in recent weeks.
