Los Angeles Angels Sleepers and Busts for 2024 Fantasy Baseball

Draft Day Sleepers

Anthony Rendon, 3B

It is not a secret that Anthony Rendon has struggled in recent years. He also has been injured quite often, playing in just 148 games over the last few seasons. That naturally may make fantasy baseball managers quickly avoid him in their upcoming drafts. However, when looking at his past success, there’s also reason to believe that he could be a decent bounce-back candidate.

If Rendon stays healthy, he has the potential to be a solid contributor to the Angels’ roster in 2024. While expecting him to be a full-on All-Star is a big ask, seeing him improve at the plate is not too far-fetched of an idea. He has shown in his career, when healthy, that he can be a very impactful hitter. Maybe the clean slate of a new season can get him back on track this campaign. As a result, take a shot on him when more of the stars are off the board.

Chase Silseth, SP

Another Angels sleeper whom fantasy managers should be watching very closely this season is Chase Silseth. The 23-year-old took a step forward last season, posting a 4-1 record and a 3.96 ERA in 16 games. This was a very notable improvement, as he had a 6.59 ERA in seven appearances in 2022. Now, his goal will be to take another step forward this upcoming season.

Silseth is also expected to see more starts this season, as the Angels’ rotation weakened during the offseason. As a result of this, there’s a real chance that he will have a breakout season this campaign. Thus, he is a pitcher to seriously consider snagging for your fantasy baseball club this year.

Draft Day Bust

Patrick Sandoval, SP

After posting a solid 2.91 ERA in 27 games during the 2022 season, Patrick Sandoval had high expectations for 2023. However, he took a step back in 2023, sporting a 7-13 record and a 4.11 ERA. It was a tough year for the southpaw, and there is some real risk in taking him in fantasy baseball this season because of it.

While Sandoval could bounce back in 2024, it is hard to ignore his significantly worse numbers last season. As a result, he is a pitcher who could end up being a bust this campaign, especially if you take him earlier than expected.

Nevertheless, the Angels have some pretty interesting players to watch this season. Rendon is a sneaky bounce-back candidate, Silseth is aiming to take another step forward, and Sandoval’s goal is to prove that last season was a fluke. It will be intriguing to see how this trio performs from here.
