Week 16 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds

Nick Smith, SG, Charlotte Hornets

Smith dodged a bullet at the NBA trade deadline. The Hornets acquired Dalton Knecht just hours before the deadline, which would have likely hurt Smith’s fantasy appeal. However, the trade was rescinded not too long after it was accepted due to Mark Williams failing a physical. It was terrific news for Smith’s fantasy value. He is averaging 21.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 3.8 three-pointers over his last four games. Brandon Miller tore a ligament in his wrist and will be out for the remainder of the season, allowing Smith to have a significant role for the foreseeable future. Grab him off the fantasy basketball waiver wire while you still can.

Jaxson Hayes, C, Los Angeles Lakers

Hayes was another player who dodged a major bullet in the Mark Williams trade. Hayes was set to lose his starting gig with the acquisition of Williams. He has kept his role in the starting lineup over the last five games and is averaging 8.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.o steal per game. Hayes has received at least 22 minutes in each of those last five contests. If you’re in need of a big man, consider adding him off the fantasy basketball waiver wire.

Day’Ron Sharpe, C, Brooklyn Nets

If Jaxson Hayes has already been plucked from your free agent pool, think about picking up Sharpe from the fantasy basketball waiver wire. He has been just as valuable as Hayes over the last couple of weeks. Sharpe is averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.0 steal over his last six games. He has also shot a sparkling .649 field goal percentage over that span. Think about adding Sharpe if you’re looking for some solid stats from the center position.

Naji Marshall, SG/SF/PF, Dallas Mavericks

If you need a player with versatility, look no further than Marshall. He has been extremely reliable for quite some time. He is averaging 12.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.2 three-pointers over his last 11 games. Marshall’s percentages have been exceptional over this time frame as well, shooting 51.4% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line. Recently, he’s been even better, putting up 18.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 three-pointers over his last three games.
