There are some players waiting to be streamed that are going to make a big difference for your fantasy hockey team this week and they are more than likely available for you to take advantage of immediately. Whether the forward should be used as a pure streamer or you consider holding onto him for longer, these are the top three choices for this week.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 19
Shane Wright, Seattle Kraken
Shane Wright is breaking out in a big way and he isn’t even getting the opportunity that he should be getting. Once he solidifies his spot in the top-6, he is going to be a very productive player. Regardless of where he’s playing at 5-on-5, he is on the top power-play unit and performing well there. Also, the advantage of Wright centering the third line is that he and his linemates get easier matchups.
Wright is now playing with Jared McCann and Oliver Bjorkstrand, who are talented players that can really produce offensively. Wright has failed to score in just one of his past 10 games and has five goals and 12 points in that stretch. He doesn’t shoot as much as he should with his ability to still score, but he does sprinkle in hits and blocked shots to somewhat make up for it. Wright is only going to continue to get better, even over the course of the rest of the season. The Seattle Kraken only play two times this week against the St. Louis Blues and Vancouver Canucks, but the matchups aren’t too tough and he’s still very much worth looking at.
Ryan Donato, Chicago Blackhawks
Ryan Donato continues to be the most pleasantly surprising player on the Chicago Blackhawks this season and is really taking advantage of any opportunity that comes his way. At this moment, he is playing on the wing of Connor Bedard’s line, which is the best thing that can happen on the Blackhawks this season. Donato is also playing on the top power-play unit and producing there as well.
He had an assist in the two games since the NHL came off the break, but Donato has four goals and nine points in his last six games. He already has career highs in all offensive categories and he does shoot and hit a good amount. As long as he’s on the Blackhawks and playing 16-22 minutes per night, he is going to put up stats for fantasy hockey. Chicago still plays the Utah Hockey Club, Vegas Golden Knights, and Anaheim Ducks – another easier schedule in terms of goals against.
Jonathan Huberdeau, Calgary Flames
Jonathan Huberdeau will likely never be what he was in Florida, but that doesn’t mean he is totally irrelevant in fantasy hockey. He produces well enough and is one of the best players on the Calgary Flames. He has 21 goals and 42 points in 56 games this season, which isn’t bad, but obviously not worth his contract. Regardless of what he makes per season, he is on the top line, top power-play unit, and has a five-game points streak.
Huberdeau has scored two goals and six points in the last five games and three of those points have come on the power play. He shoots a fair amount but is also good for a block per game at the least. For a forward, that is a good added value that not too many players can provide. The veteran is playing a ton and has logged over 20 minutes of ice time in seven of the last eight games he’s played. With so much ice time, four games this week, and while on a point streak, Huberdeau is a great target to stream. The Flames face off against the Washington Capitals, Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes, so it’s not an easy schedule, but the volume is there.
