It’s not going to get any easier from here. In fact, just the opposite. Injuries are beginning to pick up, and they aren’t going to slow down any time soon. That makes roster management quite difficult as you are constantly on the hunt for reinforcements. It’s a good thing that we have you covered. Let’s take a look at some NBA Waiver Wire options for the upcoming week.
Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
AJ Green, G, Milwaukee Bucks
For the second straight week, let’s begin in the Milwaukee Bucks backcourt. This time, the focus is on AJ Green.
Green is playing a career-high 28 minutes per game while averaging 11.6 points. He’s not exactly lighting it up across any categories, but there’s real value in targeting Green. Not only is he knocking down three-pointers at a high level, 3.2 per game. The consistency is also there as Green has just one game with fewer than three three-pointers.
Each category is important, and if you are lacking in three-pointers, Green is proving to be a legitimate option in that department.
Noah Clowney, F, Brooklyn Nets
We know that the Brooklyn Nets are a team in complete flux. They are flush with rookies and light on experience and scoring. At age 21, we can actually consider Noah Clowney a veteran.
Things have gotten even worse in Brooklyn now with Cam Thomas out for the next month. That means someone needs to step up, and the Nets are putting their faith in Clowney. Brooklyn has made it clear that they are focused on the forward’s development. Over his last three games, Clowney has played between 30 and 32 minutes while averaging 17 points and just under four rebounds per game.
He’s going to have plenty of opportunity to score, and the Nets are giving him latitude to grow and develop. As that happens, Clowney will be a strong source of points.
Russell Westbrook, G, Sacramento Kings
Let’s enjoy this while it lasts. On some platforms, Russell Westbrook is rostered in less than 50% of leagues. That simply shouldn’t be the case.
Westbrook certainly isn’t the player he was in his prime, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing left in the tank. Through nine games entering play on Sunday, the guard is averaging 16 points, 7.1 rebounds, and six assists per game. Talk about filing a stat sheet.
Sunday was the fifth game in which Westbrook came off the bench, but he’s still producing solid numbers. In the first four of those games, Westbrook averaged 10.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. Other than decreased minutes, he’s still around 25 per game off the bench, not really changed aside from some production within proportion. For now, roll with.
Jaime Jacquez, F, Miami Heat
Yes, Jaime Jacquez is capitalizing on Tyler Herro being sidelined. But that also doesn’t mean we should discount Jacquez. There’s still some more time until Herro returns, and with Jacquez continuing to put up career highs, the forward isn’t going anywhere.
Through Saturday, Jacquez is averaging 17.1 points, seven rebounds, and five assists per game. Not only is Jacquez filling that stat sheet, but he’s also efficient. The forward is shooting 57.4% from the field and 77.1 from the free throw line. This is a situation in which Jacquez is taking advantage of the situation and running with it. You should do the same when hitting the wavier wire.
