Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards for Week 8

Matt Coronato, Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames are starting to score a little more, and Matt Coronato is at the center of that. After a healthy scratch a while ago, he has picked up his game and been producing almost every game. He is shooting plenty and has a five-game point streak, during which he has scored four goals and added seven points, three of which came on the power play.

Coronato is on the top line and the top power-play unit, so he’s continuing to get the chances and taking advantage. He isn’t going to provide hits, blocked shots, or penalty minutes for your fantasy hockey team, but points are more important overall in most formats. The Flames match up against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and Carolina Hurricanes.

Adam Fantilli, Columbus Blue Jackets

Adam Fantilli had a slow start to the season and a slow end to October when he went five consecutive scoreless games and recorded one assist in seven games. Since then, he has scored seven goals and recorded 11 points in nine games. He is on the top power play and top line.

Fantilli is not only producing, but he’s also doing the little things like hitting and blocking shots as well. He is one of the hottest players in the league at the moment, and his line is clicking. The one downside is that the Columbus Blue Jackets only play twice this week, but in those two games, he could be more productive than many three- to four-game players. Columbus plays the Toronto Maple Leafs and Pittsburgh Penguins to close out this week.

Jake DeBrusk, Vancouver Canucks

Jake DeBrusk has been scoring a lot lately and has more than doubled his production from the start of the season after a slow start. He has scored six goals and eight points in the last 10 games after just two goals and four points in the first 13 games.

The Vancouver Canucks are a beat-up team, but the top line is loaded up with DeBrusk, Elias Pettersson, and Evander Kane, all playing well together. DeBrusk is also on the top power-play unit, where six of those last eight points have come from. He shoots a lot and sprinkles in some hits. The Canucks face the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks, and Los Angeles Kings on the California trip.
