As a child growing up in the Seventies, ABC’s Wide World of Sports provided the most memorable opening theme that still resonates over 40 years later. The unforgettable music and lyrics of the show opening (“The Thrill of Victory and the Agony of Defeat”) popped into my mind when I woke up on Sunday morning and examined the results of my College Fantasy Football playoff games.
I reached the playoffs in eight of my nine season-long leagues and was favored to win in six of them. I even finished undefeated (12-0) in one league, which was my fourth perfect record in 18 years. Unfortunately, I only experienced the thrill of victory twice, reaching the CFF Championship. The agony of defeat ended my unbeaten team and torpedoed the other five clubs.
There’s no such thing as too much football! Make 2026 the year you add the college game to your fantasy football repertoire. Whether you want to create your own league or join an existing league, the Fantrax College Football Commissioner is the place to go!
Despite the losses, I remain optimistic and still hope to take home two championships this week. Congrats to all remaining contenders reading this week’s column. Chris Battistel and I are here to share undervalued sleepers to give you a strategic edge in Week 14 lineups.
Week 14 College Fantasy Football Sleepers
Quarterbacks
Caden Creel
Jacksonville State vs Western Kentucky (Laub)
FPPG: 17.5
Fantrax Ownership: 14%
O/U 55.5, Jacksonville State +2.5
Opposing Total Defense: 392 ypg and 22.2 ppg
PFF Grade: 68.8
I do not want to risk a championship with a dicey starter this week. I seek volume from my potential passer on the ground or in the air. Since November 3, Caden Creel ranks as CFF QB13 with 86.3 Fantasy Points (FPs), averaging 28.9 points. In his past three games, the Gamecocks’ signal caller has dashed with the pigskin 46 times and surpassed 100 yards rushing in each. He has also totalled five touchdowns (3 passing & 2 rushing). Western Kentucky is not a shut-down defensive unit, and Creel will log another 25-point performance.
Rodney Tisdale (Battistel)
Western Kentucky at Jacksonville State
FPPG: 14.7
Fantrax Ownership: 6%
O/U 55.5, Jacksonville State -2.5
Opposing Passing Defense: 248 ypg and 18 P-TDs
PFF Grade: 74.6
Since taking over as the Hilltopper starting quarterback, Rodney Tisdale—outside of the LSU game—has been a QB No. 1 in FPPG, ranking as CFF QB11. We cannot hang the LSU game on him as a CFF producer when his team is stepping up in competition; it’s almost expected. Before that matchup, Tisdale averaged a 70% completion rate, was top 25 in pass attempts, averaged 300 passing yards per game, threw eight touchdowns, and added 25 rush attempts for 131 yards and a touchdown. All of that came in the three games leading into the LSU tilt.
He is not a true dual threat at the position, but the rushing adds a nice compliment to what he does through the air. In the three games he started, Tisdale had two with 300 or more passing yards, which suggests he is ready for championship lineups.
Looking ahead to week 14, I fully expect Tisdale to get back on track in his matchup against Jacksonville State. Over the last four games, opposing quarterbacks are averaging 25.25 fantasy points, 319 passing yards, and 50 rushing yards against the Gamecocks. With how this WKU offense operates and how often they put the ball in the air, Rodney Tisdale is a go-to this week.
Honorable Mention
Robby Ashford
Wake Forest at Duke
FPPG: 19.7
Fantrax Ownership: 6%
O/U 55.5, Wake Forest +2.5
Opposing Passing Defense: 267 ypg and 14 P-TDs
PFF Grade: 62.8
Running Backs
Austyn Dendy (Battistel)
Bowling Green at UMass
FPPG: 12.8
Fantrax Ownership: 11%
O/U 45.5, Bowling Green -14.5
Opposing Rush Defense: 216 ypg and 27 R-TDs
PFF Grade: 78.2
The former Mizzou commit has taken over as Bowling Green’s starting running back. Since then, he has averaged 21.5 carries per game, has put together back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, and has given fantasy managers a steady floor of 16.1 FPs through the four games he has started. He has not been involved in the passing attack as much as we would like from a running back who gets this kind of workload, with only three receptions on three targets in that span.
Fear not, though. What Dendy does not give you as a pass catcher, he makes up for with scoring opportunities. Since being named the starter, Dendy has handled 57 percent of the team’s red zone carries, which pairs well with the Falcons’ 86.2 percent success rate in that area of the field. When you look at the matchup this week against UMASS, he is set up for an excellent opportunity to score, considering the Minutemen allow an 88 percent red zone success rate to opposing offenses, which lines up well with Dendy and his usage when Bowling Green gets inside the twenty.
Over their last five matchups, UMASS has given up an average of 23.26 FPPG to the position, with Ohio’s Sieh Bangura recently dropping 32.4 FPs on 27 carries and no involvement in the passing game. Running backs over the last five games are averaging 167 rush yards per game. It is a great spot to start Dendy with his workload, red-zone usage, and a potentially favorable game script working in his favor against the winless, hapless UMASS Minutemen.
Will Henderson (Laub)
UTSA vs Army
FPPG: 11.8
Fantrax Ownership: 6%
O/U 51.5, UTSA -6.5
Opposing Rush Defense: 150 ypg and 15 R-TDs
PFF Grade: 82.4
I cannot ignore Will Henderson’s carries and production any longer. In the past two games, he has collected 38 carries for 331 yards, averaging 8.7 ypc. He has scored one rushing touchdown and produced 41.9 FPs, ranking as CFF RB25. Regretably, he has only caught three passes for -2 yards. Against Tulane on October 30, the Roadrunners’ ball carrier recorded 23.2 FPs with 52 yards rushing, three catches for 30 yards, and two touchdowns. If a CFF coach needs a Flex starter, Henderson is a nice option against Army at home.
Honorable Mention
Jaquari Lewis
Appalachian State vs Arkansas State
FPPG: 10.7
Fantrax Ownership: 5%
O/U 55.5, Appalachian State -2.5
Opposing Rush Defense: 178 ypg and 24 R-TDs
PFF Grade: 68.8
Wide Receivers
Jordan Shipp (Battistel)
North Carolina at North Carolina State
FPPG: 12.8
Fantrax Ownership: 17%
O/U 48.5, North Carolina +7.5
Opposing Passing Defense: 291 ypg and 19 P-TDs
PFF Grade: 72.5
Jordan Shipp, over his last five games, has quietly become the Tar Heels’ WR No. 1, soaking up 37 percent of the team’s targets through the air. While North Carolina has struggled to put points on the board, averaging 19 points per game on the year, Shipp has been a bright spot for fantasy managers who dared to take the plunge on this offense. Over that five-game stretch, he has produced 83.5 full PPR fantasy points, good for 16.7 per outing. Another player with a solid floor who has the potential to give you a big week based on his matchup. For championship week, the Tar Heels face their in-state rival, North Carolina State. A defense that has not been all that great. The Wolfpack ranks 110th in the nation, allowing 31.7 points per game this year, and has allowed 60 points over its last two outings. It is an excellent spot for Shipp, and he has been used recently in this offense.
Given that Jordan Shipp is primarily the slot wideout for the Tar Heels, if we look at what the slot wide receiver has produced against North Carolina State over the last five matchups, we can line up another strong outing from Shipp. The slot wideouts have averaged 17.9 FPPG over that span, with the slot position finding the end zone four times. Twice, a slot wideout has gone for over 100 receiving yards, and the position has averaged 7.6 targets per game. Considering his usage, how North Carolina likes to sauce the rock, and where teams have found consistent success attacking the Wolfpack defensively, Shipp is the sleeper who can have you waking up to a title Sunday morning.
Tre Richardson (Laub)
Vanderbilt vs Tennessee
FPPG: 12
Fantrax Ownership: 1%
O/U 64.5, Vandy +2.5
Opposing Passing Defense: 247 ypg and 17 P-TDs
PFF Grade: 73.0
I am irrationally exuberant to watch the Vanderbilt-Tennessee game on Saturday. While the rivalry is not as big as the Harvard-Yale, Auburn-Alabama, or Ohio State-Michigan, the Commodores and Volunteers have met 118 times since 1892, and Tennessee holds a commanding 79-32-5 advantage. In recent years, the Volunteers have won six straight games against their in-state rivals. Yet. This year might be the biggest in over a decade.
Vanderbilt is 9-2 and has an outside chance at qualifying for the playoffs, and would like to get QB Diego Pavia an invite to the Heisman ceremony in New York. The quarterback could even win the coveted trophy. If Pavia wants to impress the voters, he needs to lead the Commodores to victory and impressive stats for the fourth game in a row. In the past two games, Pavia unlocked Tre Richardson, who has been prolific in the aerial assault. He has garnered 14 targets, corralled nine passes for 283 yards and four scores. A home run hitter, the junior has averaged 31.4 ypc in the hot streak and aggregated 17.4 ypc for the season on 35 receptions. Fireworks will dominate the afternoon sky in Knoxville, TN, and Richardson excels once again.
