NHL Injury Report for January 13
Connor Bedard, Chicago Black Hawks
Connor Bedard will not play vs EDM tonight.
He has the flu
— Elliotte Friedman (@FriedgeHNIC) January 13, 2026
Well, this sucks. He just returned from injury, only to get sick two games in. The good news, illnesses usually move along quickly. Sadly, it’s not how Bedard owners wanted to start the week.
Dougie Hamilton, New Jersey Devils
Agent J.P. Barry isn't holding back on the #NJDevils Dougie Hamilton scratch: "Singling him out seems very calculated."
Friedman reports Hamilton blocked a trade to the Sharks last summer. Now, he's willing to expand his list. Who trades for him? 👇https://t.co/M1QekWTLB0

It’s not exactly an injury, but this is worth monitoring. New Jersey is a gossip city. After being scratched on Sunday, he was back in the lineup last night.
For Hamilton owners, this isn’t great news. He just broke his two-month pointless drought, and now all this speculation. There should be no shortage of interest in a defenceman who put up 74 points a couple of seasons ago. With Luke Hughes, Simon Nemec and Seamus Casey all ready for bigger roles, it was only a matter of time before the chatter picked up.
This could get uglier before it gets resolved.
Keifer Sherwood, Vancouver Canucks
Adam Foote, Canucks head coach, estimates Sherwood will be out one to three weeks. He’s been one of the few bright spots on an otherwise horrible season. Sherwood has once again been a hit machine with 210 in 44 games. The 17 goals have been the icing on the cake.
Thatcher Demko, Vancouver Canucks
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that G Thatcher Demko has been placed on IR (retroactive to Jan. 10).

Here we go again. Just when you think he might be back, he’s gone again.
Luckily, I don’t own Demko in a single pool. If I did, this would be how I would move forward:
Pray he returns and strings two or three strong games together – then I am sending every single team in my league an opportunity to buy low on Demko. Sometimes you take the hit on the return to remove the disappointment.
The other option, hope the Canucks trade him to a team that believes they can rehabilitate him and get him back and healthy, and you hold. I only do this if I am not in contention for a championship. If I am sitting near the bottom of my league, I would consider throwing a late pick at Demko in the hopes the owner bites. It’s easy to gamble on upside when the cost is low enough.
Brayden Point, Tampa Bay Lightning
Here’s a look at Brayden Point’s power play goal, where he went down after Cam York fell on his knee. He needed help off the ice. #GoBolts pic.twitter.com/PicvAytvBy

As luck would have it, Point will miss more time after going down awkwardly under Cam York, Philadelphia Flyers.
Since returning from his previous injury, Point had been rolling, having returned to his traditional point-per-game form. The Lightning play in the second half of a back-to-back tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins. I’m not expecting much of an update on how long they expect him to be out before that game.
Adam Fox, New York Rangers
The New York Rangers are putting Adam Fox on LTIR (must miss 10 games or 24 days) and Igor Shesterkin on IR while he continues to be evaluated.

Fox returned for two games before going back on injured reserve, long-term injury reserve. The injury didn’t appear to take place during his last game, where he played 23:30.
Losing a perennial 70-point defenceman is a hard blow to recover from.
Igor Shesterkin, New York Rangers
The Rangers are being a bit cagey about Shesterkin’s injury. It doesn’t appear to be that serious, but saying that, there’s no indication he will be returning this week. At this point, he’ll miss some time. I think that’s the new way of saying ‘week-to-week’.
That wraps up your NHL Injury Report for January 13. Thanks for reading.
