We’re 70 days from Opening Day, and the 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series turns to one of the more established power bats in the upper minors. Coming in at #94 is Tommy White, a corner infielder whose calling card has always been impact contact. White’s raw power and ability to drive the baseball give him a clear fantasy identity, even as questions about hit tool consistency and defensive home remain part of the evaluation. As the list tightens, he profiles as a near-term power option with defined dynasty value.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #94 Tommy White
Oakland’s system quietly became a haven for upper-level bats who could really hit, and Tommy White looked like the next one pushing his way into that conversation. The nickname came with expectations, but what stood out during the season was how much the approach matured. White was not just muscling through Double-A pitching, he was winning with a more controlled offensive plan. The shape of the contact hinted there was still another gear available if the swing plane added a touch more loft.
White’s production settled in as quietly efficient across the season. Over 395 plate appearances, he posted a .275/.334/.773 line with a .164 ISO and a wRC+ around 108, placing him roughly eight percent better than league average. The strikeout profile was especially encouraging for a young corner bat. He ran roughly a 14% strikeout rate with a swinging-strike rate near 10%, reinforcing the bat-to-ball skill. The walk rate hovered closer to seven percent, which kept the on-base percentage a tick below where you might expect for a .275 average, but the quality of contact consistently carried the profile.

The batted-ball mix painted a clear developmental roadmap. White produced a 50.5% ground-ball rate against just 29.5% fly balls, yet still collected 23 doubles and 12 home runs because he hit the ball hard to all fields. A 40.6% pull rate paired with a 34.4% opposite-field rate spoke more to a mature approach than a pull-heavy power hunt. That balance explained why the ISO played adequately in the present, with room to jump quickly if the swing generated more loft. From a scouting perspective, the swing stayed compact with real strength through the zone. He stayed on plane long enough to backspin line drives to right-center, supporting a line-drive rate near 20% even without eye-popping home run totals.
Defensively, White remained more bat-first than anything else. Third base looked like the primary home for now, with enough arm strength to handle routine plays, while first base remained a viable fallback. The lack of speed limited his category impact, with just three steals on the season, so the offensive production needed to carry the profile. Context mattered here. A 22-year-old holding his own in Double-A, while striking out less than league average and producing above-average offense, represented the kind of foundation you want to see before a true power spike. The balanced spray, controlled chase, and steady hard contact showed up as doubles in the present, with a clear path for those to turn into pull-side home runs if the fly-ball rate crept closer to the mid-30s.
Fantasy Outlook
In dynasty formats, White fit the mold of a top-100 bat worth targeting before the stat line fully bloomed. The low strikeout profile gave him sneaky appeal in points leagues, where contact quality and run production can carry value even when the home runs come in waves. In standard 5×5 formats, a near-term outcome around .260 to .280 with 20 to 25 home runs and solid RBI production felt realistic, with room for more if the ground-ball rate trended down. He did not offer speed, and the walk rate suggested he was more average than asset in OBP formats at present, but a small swing-shape adjustment could change that calculus quickly. With a 2026 ETA, the bet here was on the bat and Oakland’s willingness to let him hit his way up the ladder, with a steady upward trajectory as the loft followed the contact.
