Rest-of-Season Fantasy Basketball Rankings season is officially here, and somehow January came and went faster than Luke Ridnour changing teams in 2015. We’re officially into February — the month of love. And no, I don’t mean Caleb Love.
Valentine’s Day season can only mean one thing for fantasy basketball managers: the NBA Trade Deadline is right around the corner. And that’s when Rest-of-Season Fantasy Basketball Rankings matter most, because it also signals the most beautiful (and chaotic) stretch of the fantasy calendar — Silly Season.
As struggling teams ship out veterans, the wheels come off in the best way possible. Minutes open up. Usage spikes. Youth movements take flight. Suddenly, the guys you stashed in December start winning you weeks in March — and climbing the Rest-of-Season Fantasy Basketball Rankings in a hurry.
Creating Rest-of-Season Fantasy Basketball Rankings before the February 5th trade deadline might feel like a fool’s errand — and honestly, it kind of is. Roles will change. Depth charts will flip. Chaos is inevitable.
But I still took on the challenge.
These Rest-of-Season Fantasy Basketball Rankings reflect the NBA as it exists right now. Trade rumors nudged a few players up or down. Obvious shutdown risks got slight downgrades. Nothing drastic, nothing reckless — just a realistic snapshot of rest-of-season value heading into the most volatile stretch of the year.
If you’ve read this far and you’re brave enough to sift through pre–trade deadline Rest-of-Season Fantasy Basketball Rankings…
Let’s dive in.
📈 Biggest Risers (January → February)
Luka Dončić (January: #4 → February: #2 overall)
Luka has been on an absolute tear — and more importantly, he looks completely healthy. The burst is back, the workload is massive, and the usage is exactly where fantasy managers want it. He vaults into the first tier just under Victor Wembanyama and has a real path to finishing as the overall No. 1 if things break right.
Nikola Jokić (January: #23 → February: #3 overall)
A meteoric rise fueled by one thing: his impending return. Jokić has shot up roughly 20 spots and is expected back within the next week or so. If you haven’t tried to acquire him yet, this is your sign. The window is closing fast.
Domantas Sabonis (January: #66 → February: #22 overall)
Nearly a 50-spot jump — and it’s fully earned. Sabonis has returned from injury and immediately reestablished himself as an elite fantasy producer. The durability concerns linger, but the production is undeniable when he’s on the floor.
Amen Thompson (January: #15 → February: #11 overall)
The consistency king. Amen virtually never misses games, and that reliability matters more than ever this time of year. His across-the-board contributions and stable role keep him climbing.
Alex Sarr (January: #35 → February: #24 overall)
Sarr continues to prove he should’ve been the No. 1 pick last year. The defensive impact, usage growth, and confidence are all very real. He profiles as a Top-25 points-league option the rest of the way, with legitimate Top-15 to Top-20 upside. Side note: I can’t wait to see the Alex Sarr–Trae Young pairing next season.
Joel Embiid (January: #68 → February: #41 overall)
A jump of roughly 20 spots. The per-game dominance remains elite, and his ability to stay on the court — outside of one leg of back-to-backs, which will likely be the norm for the rest of his career — has stabilized his weekly value. You accept the limitations and reap the rewards. That said, if you can kick the tires on another stud who doesn’t automatically sit back-to-backs, it’s worth exploring.
Michael Porter Jr. (January: #39 → February: #35 overall)
Up another 20 spots since December. The scoring efficiency and role security have been excellent, though usage would take a hit if Brooklyn moves him. For now, enjoy the ride.
Ryan Rollins (January: #93 → February: #57 overall)
One of the biggest jumps on the board. With Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kevin Porter Jr. sidelined, Rollins’ role in Milwaukee looks safe — and elite — the rest of the way. This is real, not fluky. And it does raise the question: why did the Warriors ever let him go?
Tari Eason (January: #132 → February: #67 overall)
The upside and elite stocks push him up more than 50 spots overall since December. The only thing holding him back from Top-60 territory is the lack of back-to-backs. When he plays, he’s a difference-maker.
Bobby Portis (January: #167 → February: #111 overall)
Milwaukee injuries strike again — and Portis benefits massively. He offers one of the safest floors in fantasy for at least the next month-plus.
📉 Biggest Fallers (January → February)
Giannis Antetokounmpo (January: #2 → February: #16 overall)
A crushing blow. Giannis self-diagnosed a calf injury that could sideline him for 4–6 weeks, dropping him out of the Top 15. Once he returns, expect him to push hard considering Milwaukee’s record — but availability matters.
Anthony Davis (January: #32 → February: #124 overall)
Predictable, but brutal. Injuries and post-deadline uncertainty make it impossible to trust when, where, or if he’ll play consistently. He tumbles completely out of the elite range.
Trae Young (January: #24 → February: #81 overall)
This one hurts. The upside still screams Top-75, but the uncertainty around his status — and early rumors that he could sit most games, if not all — make him incredibly risky. I’d jump ship as soon as possible.
Devin Booker (January: #12 → February: #31 overall)
A modest drop tied directly to his latest injury. When active, he’s still elite — but availability is starting to chip away at his value.
Jakob Poeltl (January: #113 → February: #135 overall)
Mysterious back injury, unclear timeline, and mounting risk. Personally, I’d cut bait — but the upside is just enough to keep him ranked in the 125–150 range.
🎉 Major Risers & February Shakeups
February has already reshaped the fantasy landscape. Victor Wembanyama remains the unquestioned No. 1 overall, but Luka Dončić has closed the gap in a hurry. Nikola Jokić’s return looms, and once he’s back, the top tier becomes a three-headed monster.
Amen Thompson’s durability continues to separate him, while Alex Sarr is rapidly entering league-winning territory. Pascal Siakam remains a strong fantasy option, but his ranking settles just inside the Top 40 as Indiana drifts further from contention. Late-season absences remain a real concern — making this an ideal window to sell high before the deadline.
Jaren Jackson Jr. managers who bought low should be thrilled — he’s firmly a Top-30 rest-of-season option. Josh Giddey continues to feast as long as he’s healthy in a wildly unpredictable Bulls environment. Ivica Zubac remains one of the safest big men in fantasy — if he’s healthy, he plays.
Austin Reaves’ return is imminent after progressing to full-contact work, and his climb reflects that. Meanwhile, Edgecombe just keeps rising because he never misses games and always delivers.
🚀 Breakouts, Climbers, and Role Winners
Silly Season is calling.
Anthony Black showed his ceiling when Jalen Suggs and Franz Wagner were out. With them back, he settles into a Top-100 floor with upside if injuries strike again.
Tre Johnson continues flashing Steph-like range and should see steady opportunity down the stretch — the Wizards didn’t spend lottery capital for nothing. Peyton Watson’s rise has been legendary, though it likely cools once Jokić and Christian Braun return.
Brice Sensabaugh has jumped nearly 150 spots after playing like Kobe Bryant, and with Utah fully embracing the tank, the runway is clear. De’Anthony Melton makes his rankings debut after Jimmy Butler’s season-ending injury.
As Silly Season approaches, Bub Carrington and Justin Champagnie continue climbing — and March should be a blast watching the Wizards let these kids run.
Jonathan Kuminga remains unranked for now. The situation is too fluid. Once we get clarity on his health and team, he’ll feature prominently in the March edition. For now, he’s an IL stash if you have the space.
⚙️ Ranking Philosophy Reminder
These Rest-of-Season Rankings continue to prioritize three core factors:
-
Availability and durability
-
Injury and load-management risk
-
Team competitiveness and shutdown probability
Because in points leagues, availability is still the best ability.
