It’s not getting any easier around here. And that’s unfortunate because every decision is getting more and more important and critical. Let’s not waste anymore time as we jump right into some options to improve your team on the NBA waiver wire.
Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
Micah Potter, F, Indiana Pacers
When it comes it combing the waiver wire, rebuilding teams make the best targets. The Indiana Pacers are one of the teams taking it the furthest this season. That leads to multiple options that previously weren’t even close to being on our radars.
Over the last month or so, that has been Micah Potter. The forward has reached double figures in each of his last 10 games while taking advantage of his opportunity. Even if that opportunity has come by default.
In that 10-game stretch, Potter has averaged 14.1 points and 5.9 rebounds in 24 minutes. He’s shooting 54% from the field and 83.9% from the free-throw line while averaging 2.1 three-pointers per game. There’s nothing to suggest that this run will end, which means Potter is worth our attention.
Oso Ighodaro, C, Phoenix Suns
After being drafted in the second round last season, Ogo Ighodaro has yet to truly make an impact. He did play 61 games last year, but Ighodaro averaged just 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 17 minutes of action. Overall, this year, he has taken things up a notch, but he’s only playing a few minutes more per game. That has led to six points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
While still not enough to make a fantasy impact, things have changed recently. A injury to Mark Williams has created playing time. The good news, is that Ighodaro has taken full advantage of the situation.
Over his last seven games, Ighodaro has two double-doubles while kicking things up a few notches. He’s averaging 28 minutes per game, and his efficiency has been on display. Especially at the center position, 9.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per game can fit in any lineup. He’s also shooting an insane 71.4% from the field, and his playing time should remain for the next two to three weeks, at a minimum.
Neemias Queta, C, Boston Celtics
Things have been going well for Neemias Queta, and now things are slated to improve even more. With Nikola Vucevic out for the next month, Queta now takes on a front-and-center role.
While the extra playing time has certainly helped, Queta’s efficiency has been on full display this season. He’s averaging 10.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game over 25 minutes, which means he’s in good shape to put the additional playing time to good use. Now, it’s time to reap the benefits. Over his last 4 games, Queta is averaging 12.4 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. And that’s something we can seemingly expect, at a minimum, moving forward.
Cason Wallace, G, Oklahoma City Thunder
Defense gets Cason Wallace into the lineup, and that also provides the majority of his fantasy value as of late. Playing time hasn’t been an issue as of late, but Wallace has shown some offensive upside as well.
In a six-game stretch that ended March 3, Wallace averaged 16.8 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.2 rebounds per game. While I’m not sure it’s a pace Wallace will continue to keep up, it’s good to know what he’s capable of. Of course, the 2.1 steals per game he’s averaging certainly helps as well.
