NFL Injury Report

Patrick Mahomes – QB Kansas City Chiefs

Since undergoing surgery on December 15, 2025, to repair a torn ACL and LCL, Mahomes has faced an uphill battle to be ready for Week 1. Since then, however, he has progressed well and remained on schedule throughout his recovery. Over the past two months, he has cleared several important milestones, including participating in 7-on-7 drills and resuming running and cutting activities. There is still almost an entire month ahead of him, but knowing that he is trending in the direction of being cleared for these 11-on-11 drills is promising news. While he can have setbacks, it is looking quite promising for him to not only be ready for action at the start of camp, but also to be under center in Week 1 is within the realm of possibility.

Daniel Jones – QB Indianapolis Colts

This is fantastic news for the Colts, as their success in 2025 was in no doubt tied to the health of their franchise quarterback. If things continue along this trajectory, and he can participate in all drills at the outset of training camp, it may start to alleviate any doubts about him missing the start of the season. While his offensive output might suffer due to a drop in rushing production, the Colts liked enough of what they saw last year and in the offseason to give him a two-year contract extension.

Bo Nix – QB Denver Broncos

This quote came late in June when he was being asked about the public’s perception of him always asking about his injured legs. The confidence surrounding his recovery helps ease concerns about his availability for Week 1. While it’s still possible that he could miss some time—after all, setbacks can happen—he has already stated that he expects to be ready when training camp opens. With that in mind, and considering he’s recovering from a broken bone rather than a structural injury, he appears to be on track for a full workload in training camp and to begin the season under center.

Malik Nabers – WR New York Giants

Source: Jordan Raanan, ESPN

Nabers missed most of last season after suffering a devastating knee injury in Week 4, tearing both his ACL and meniscus. There was always hope that he would be ready for Week 1, but that optimism often felt more hopeful than realistic. What likely slowed his progress was a follow-up procedure this spring to remove scar tissue, which had been causing stiffness in his knee. That said, he has come a long way since his initial surgery and is nearing a return to the field. While both Nabers and the Giants remain optimistic about his recovery, it’s difficult to ignore the team’s offseason moves. New York added several wide receivers to bolster its depth, a decision that could reflect some uncertainty about Nabers’ availability early in the season. As mentioned above, there’s still a chance he is ready for Week 1, but it seems more likely that he begins the season on the PUP list. Even once he returns, there will be legitimate questions about whether he can immediately regain his pre-injury explosiveness and route-running ability after such a significant knee injury.

Cam Skattebo – RB New York Giants

This all seems like positive news with a full-steam-ahead approach going forward. Whether it will ultimately come true and Skattebo will play Week 1 remains to be seen, but everything, as it stands seem to line up that way. Just the fact that a day after running individual drills and not feeling any pain or suffering any setbacks is such a good sign. He still has a few weeks before camp starts to continue healing. However, as it stands, he seems all but ready.

Zach Charbonnet – RB Seattle Seahawks

By all accounts, Charbonnet’s knee is recovering as it should and within the timeline set out. In medical terms, that is good news, since he has had no setbacks and appears to be getting himself healthy enough to play again. In football terms, the timing of this makes it difficult to project forward. His late-July checkup will be a key indication of what lies ahead, but for now, at the outset of training camp, it would appear that he will miss time to begin the season. Although the team hasn’t ruled out the possibility of him being healthy enough to start Week 1, just seeing the Seahawks draft Jadarian Price with the 32nd overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft shows how the team likely views Charbonnet, giving them extra insurance in case this goes wonky or gets delayed.

George Kittle – TE San Francisco 49ers

Kittle is ahead of schedule, but all players do like to prep themselves up and make them look farther along than they actually might be. Still, if anyone can come back as strong as ever after an Achilles injury, it’s him. He did say in another interview that he is up to running 16 miles per hour, which is simply outstanding. Still, he has a lot of hurdles to clear, which include pivoting his legs, and that has yet to be achieved. Both he and the team believe he is on track to play Week 1, but backup Jake Tonges should not be forgotten at the end of drafts, as he could have significant value if Kittle winds up on the PUP List to begin the season.
