Attacking the Green!: 2026 Worldwide Technology Championship Stats Breakdown and Best Bets

Welcome back, golf fans. For the second straight week, the PGA Tour fall season will play in Mexico, this week with a trip to Tiger Woods’ El Cardonal at Diamante for the Worldwide Technology Championship. This will be the fourth tournament at this course, so we are starting to get some idea of how it will play from a fantasy perspective. Let’s dig in and take a look, then go over some of the top bets for the week.

The Course: El Cardonal at Diamante

The course was designed by Tiger Woods and Davis Love back in 2014, and it is clear that they wanted a resort course, birdie fest setup, and that is what we get year in and year out. The winner has hit -24 or lower in each of the first three trips around, with a total of 16 players hitting -20 or better in 2025. Looking just at the scorecard doesn’t tell the entire story, as it is listed at 7,452 yards and has six par 4s over 450 yards. The fairways are wide, the greens are larger than average, and it ultimately comes down to who is on point with their irons, giving them a ton of birdie opportunities, then combining that with a red-hot putter to take full advantage and climb that leaderboard.

Overall, my model will be mostly weighted on current form in terms of results and from a statistical standpoint (SG: Approach, SG: Putting, Birdie or Better %). I will also look at some course history here in the three previous years and also peek at some birdie fest/easy scoring trends.

Stats & Trends That Matter: Finding the 2026 Worldwide Technology Championship Best Bets

Ben James (+2200 Outright / + Top 5 / + Top 10)

It is the dealer’s choice at the top of the betting board as I can make a case for or against each of these guys. I will turn to James here for a couple of reasons, starting with his form. He started out the fall season with back-to-back Top 5s at the Biltmore Championship and Bank of Utah Championship. After falling flat in Bermuda with a missed cut, he bounced back at the Mexico Open, closing with a 64-68-65  to finish T16 for the week. He enters the week 3rd in this field in SG: Total in the fall, leads the field in SG: Ball Striking, and is 3rd in Birdie or Better %. Win #1 is inching closer for James, and I am on board that it could be this week! I will also have exposure to the secondary markets.

Seamus Power (+4500 Outright / + Top 5 / + Top 10)

Hard not to like this number on Power this week, considering he leads all players in this field in Strokes Gained: Total and Birdie or Better % over the course of the fall season. It has been an up-and-down 2026 calendar year overall, but the good news is that he is currently playing his best golf and has two Top 10s and finished all three of his fall events inside the top 25. The irons were a bit off at the Bank of Utah Championship, but he gained at least four strokes on approach in each of the other two events, while gaining strokes putting in all three and going back further has gained strokes putting in six of his last seven events. I will be betting Power outright as well as in the Top 5 and Top 10 markets this week.

Ben Kohles (+4400 Outright / +330 Top 10 / +150 Top 20)

Kohles played here for the first time a year ago, and while he made the cut, it wasn’t a great result as he finished T63. The big difference coming into the WWT this year is the form. He has made 14 of 16 cuts on the season and has started the 2026 fall season with four straight Top 20 finishes. During that stretch, he leads all players in this field in SG: Approach and is 2nd in overall SG: Tee to Green. The results could also have been better had it not been for a somewhat cold putter, but the good news is that he is just outside the Top 50 overall for the season. He can make birdies in bunches and definitely contend if he puts it all together. I will have a bet on the outright but do like the Top 10 and Top 20 markets a little more this week.
