It is time for our weekly check-in on the week that was with my Week 7 MOP Rankings. I removed every player’s top-scoring fantasy play to find players at each position whose volume profiles point to future success. I want players getting consistent touches and earning targets over those who make one big play and do nothing for the rest of the game. These rankings are based on Half-PPR scoring, but I have found they can help you find bargains in PPR formats as well. Below are last week’s leaders at each position along with some notes on players in each group.

Running Back Takeaways
Dolphins running back Ollie Gordon II has started three games in place of De’Von Achane. In all three, Gordon has finished as a top-20 running back in both traditional and MOP rankings. It is hard to bank on a starting running back on a bad team, since a negative game script can limit a running back’s involvement. But Miami has played three close games in a row, which has kept Gordon heavily involved. The Dolphins won’t be favored often, but Gordon is clearly the running back you want on this team. Jaylen Wright has 36 rushing yards on 20 carries this season. Gordon should remain a low-end RB2 for the foreseeable future.
If you look at the total fantasy points for each of Denver’s three running backs, you will see RJ Harvey at the top, followed by J.K. Dobbins and Jonah Coleman. But the Week 7 MOP Rankings tell a different tale. They have the trio of Broncos running backs ranked in the exact opposite order. So where does the truth lie in terms of future value? It is hard to say for sure, but I was highly encouraged by Coleman’s usage and performance. And I am not just saying that because the MOP rankings favor him. Coleman played the same number of snaps and earned the same number of carries as Harvey and Dobbins combined. That is a great sign considering that Coleman is a rookie who hadn’t played since Week 2. Dobbins is the one among the three I would be most worried about going forward.
The New York Giants one-upped Denver by having all three running backs (not to mention Jameis Winston) rush for touchdowns in their upset victory in Houston. The good news for fantasy managers is that Cam Skattebo looks to have worked his way out of the doghouse. He ran for 124 yards and, more importantly, did not put the ball on the ground. Devin Singletary and Tyrone Tracy Jr. are more likely to rotate behind Skattebo than replace him moving forward, as long as Skattebo’s fumbling issues don’t return. New York is off in Week 8, but I wouldn’t mind stashing either player if you have the roster flexibility.

Wide Receiver Takeaways
In most fantasy football leagues, you will see anywhere from 24 to 48 starting wide receivers in a given week. With 32 NFL teams, it is rare to see a team’s third wide receiver as a viable option. But it is getting increasingly difficult to ignore what Dallas Cowboys wideout Ryan Flournoy is doing lately. Flournoy has finished in the top 24 fantasy wide receivers each week for three straight weeks. His consistent placement in the MOP rankings suggests he may have staying power. Flournoy has effectively replaced tight end Jake Ferguson as Dak Prescott’s third option behind CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens. Fantasy managers should view the third-year wideout as a WR3 or Flex depending on the other options available.
Perception is a funny thing. I highlighted Michael Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals as a player with the potential to be this year’s Chris Olave. My logic was that Wilson’s fantasy value could keep growing throughout the season. And even though he hasn’t gone off in either of his two games since, Wilson finished as the overall WR24 in Half-PPR leagues last week. He finished even higher in the Week 7 MOP rankings, placing at WR19. Wilson has yet to earn fewer than seven targets in any game this season. The production will come. I am holding onto him where I have him and would be looking to buy low if you can find an impatient fantasy manager to take advantage of.
Demario Douglas has had two outstanding weeks in a row for the New England Patriots. He tied his career-high with seven grabs, finishing with 86 yards and a touchdown against the New York Jets. Even after his standout Week 5 performance, fantasy managers were hesitant to buy in. Douglas is still only rostered in 36 percent of Fantrax leagues. But I suspect that number will be significantly higher in a couple of days. New England placed Romeo Doubs on Injured Reserve, and A.J. Brown may have forgotten how to catch a football while he was injured. The Patriots have some favorable matchups over the next few weeks, including games against Chicago, Miami, and Detroit. Douglas could make a sizable impact in PPR leagues during this stretch.

Tight End Takeaways
Greg Dulcich has caught at least four passes and registered at least 37 receiving yards in three of his last four games. That kind of production shouldn’t be overlooked at tight end. Dulcich’s recent efforts culminated in last week’s 5-86-0 final stat line. The yardage was his highest weekly mark since his rookie season in Denver in 2022. I am not quite ready to declare Dulcich a must-start in 10-and 12-team fantasy leagues. But he could be a viable streamer in favorable matchups, and may be worth starting in tight end premium leagues as well. His usage has been especially encouraging given Miami’s recent stretch of close games. Dulcich would likely benefit if the Dolphins were forced to play from behind.
Mason Taylor and Davis Allen won last week’s “random tight end with two touchdowns” sweepstakes. As a result, both players finished inside the top five at the position in the Week 7 MOP rankings. The pair had combined for five touchdowns in their previous 70 NFL games before last week. Both players also face competition for tight end targets on their own teams. Taylor has higher draft pedigree and reputation as a playmaker in the passing game. But as is often the case with tight ends who randomly blow up, I would let another manager chase last week’s fantasy points.
