This week, the PGA Tour heads to Harbour Town Golf Club for the RBC Heritage, the fourth signature event of the season. Despite falling just a week after the Masters, the signature event status gives us an elite field led by World #1 Scottie Scheffler, seven of the Top 10, and 39 of the Top 50 in the DataGolf World Rankings.
In this article, we will be breaking down the course, looking at some of the top stats and trends, and then the players who fit that model. Let’s get started.

The Course: Harbour Town Golf Club
The Pete Dye designed Harbour Town Golf Club has hosted the RBC Heritage for the past 55 years, going back to 1970. At 7,243 yards, the Par 71 setup is one of the shortest courses on tour, and with narrow fairways, doglegs, and forced positioning, it favors accuracy much more than distance. Those obstacles off the tee, combined with some of the smallest greens on tour, create a low GIR rate(~60%), almost 5% lower than the Tour average.
The winner has reached at least -17 in three straight and five of the last six years, and overall, Harbour Town plays about a quarter stroke below par. Take that with a grain of salt, as that combines the last two years, where it has held signature event status with the previous eight years. In each of the two years, as a signature event, there have been 17 players to reach double-digit under par.
Combine it all, and we get a stats blueprint for success that includes accuracy off the tee, a strong iron game, and above-average around-the-green play. Combine that with players who have played well in the signature events and on Pete Dye courses, and we should be able to find the players suited for success here at the RBC Heritage.
Stats & Trends That Matter: Finding the 2026 RBC Heritage Champion
Top Stats:
- Strokes Gained: Off the Tee/Driving Accuracy – We got a short, tree-lined Pete Dye setup where angles for approach are key with the doglegs. This mitigates the importance of distance and elevates the importance of accuracy off the tee.
- Strokes Gained: Approach/Birdie or Better % – With the 2nd smallest greens on tour protected by both sand and water, precision iron play is the key to contending this week. A strong iron game also heavily correlates with making a ton of birdies and that is what we are after with winning scores in the high teens.
- Strokes Gained: Around the Green –Â Like any course with a lower GIR rate, a strong around-the-green game is the difference between saving a bad hole or putting up an ugly number on the scorecard.
- Signature Event History –Â This is a strong-field, no-cut event, and we now have a ton of data to look at for these events going back to 2024.
- Pete Dye Form – The Pete Dye narrative is a strong one, with his unique setups that require accuracy and precision from tee to green, rather than distance
Matt Fitzpatrick (+2000 Outright / +345 Top 5)
Looking at just the stat model from above, Fitz is the only player to rank in the Top 20 in all five categories and is actually 12th or better in all of them. What draws me even closer is the fact that he is 3rd in driving accuracy and 5th in approach, which is a recipe for success around Harbour Town. While he doesn’t quite check the Pete Dye or Signature Event boxes this week, he is coming off a solid T18 at the Masters, where he was Top 10 tee to green. That came after a win at the Valspar and a runner-up at the Players Championship. He is currently 5th on the odds board overall, and if you want some “Scottie Insurance,” he is +1700 in the “Without Scottie” market.
Collin Morikawa (+2400 Outright / +400 Top 5)
Assuming the back is fully healthy, Morikawa is a nice value that checks all the boxes for me this week. He leads all players in my model ranking Top 15 in eight of my nine categories. He leads all golfers in SG: Approach, is 7th in Driving Accuracy, and 3rd in Birdie or Better %. He returns to the RBC Heritage with two Top 10’s in six trips and leads the tour in average finish over the first three signature events of the season, including a win at Pebble Beach! Coming off a Top 10 tee to green performance at the Masters, I will take the number and gamble Morikawa’s back is just fine.
Russell Henley (+1700 Outright / +295 Top 5)
He checks all the boxes this week, starting with the form as he is coming off a career-high T3 at the masters. Looking at the full season, while he has missed two cuts in eight events, he has flashed a ton of upside, finishing Top 20 in each of the other six, including three Top 10’s. He now returns to the RBC Heritage, where he has been very good, finishing Top-20 in four of his last five trips, including a T8 last year. The consistency and upside continues as we look at Pete Dye form as he has four straight Top 20’s including three Top 10’s. From a stats perspective, he is elite in driving accuracy and above-average in the other four categories. Ride the hot hand and get Henley on your betcard this week.
Justin Thomas (+3800 Outright / +270 Top 10)
Thomas got a late start to the season and has experienced some ups and downs, but the good news is that he returns to the location of his last win, just a year ago. It’s not just Harbour Town either, as he has a ton of success on Pete Dye tracks recently with a Tour-leading seven Top 10’s in the last 10 events(he has played nine). Outside of his missed cut at the API, his first event back, he has seven Top 10’s over his previous 15 signature events. While most of the game has been up and down, he is still elite around the green and showed at the Players what he can do when the iron game is on. Great mid-tier outright pick, and I also like him for another spike Top 10 on a Pete Dye course this week.
Ryo Hisatsune (+500 Top 10 / +230 Top 20)
It is impossible to ignore the consistency and growth of Hisatsune this season. After a missed cut to open the season at the Sony Open, he has reeled off nine straight made cuts, including a runner-up, four Top 10s, and five Top 20 finishes. In this week’s field, he is one of four players to hit on six of nine categories, including SG: Off the Tee, SG: Approach, BoB%, course history, signature event history, and form. Even the SG: Around the Green and Driving Accuracy numbers are still above average, and when it comes to Pete Dye form, he has Top 20’s in two of his last three. All things considered, I will have exposure in both the Top 10 and Top 20 markets this week.
