Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, April 12, 2026. In today’s edition, the Astros might be in the worst possible spot right now when it comes to injuries. They have starters, relievers, and now position players, all with injuries that will require time to properly heal. Given that this organization has had difficulty properly diagnosing things in the past, it could be a long season for them. Read about this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report
Houston Astros – Team Update
Joe Espada had no updates on Jeremy Peña, who is currently getting imaging on his knee, or Tatsuya Imai. Carlos Correa is still not at full strength after his illness in Colorado, hence today's off day.
— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) April 12, 2026
As if the Astros’ luck couldn’t get any worse, now they might be missing some more key pieces. The unfortunate part for fantasy managers is that we may not have definitive answers regarding any of these players before first pitch today. Jeremy Pena has had issues since the preseason, though this is his first regarding the knee. Tatsuya Imai struggled on Friday night, to the tune of only getting one out, and was later diagnosed with arm fatigue. As for Correa, he should be back soon enough. That being said, it’s been a rough start to the season for the Astros and their fans.
Houston Astros – Team Update (II)
Josh Hader could face hitters next week, Joe Espada said. Bennett Sousa threw a live BP today in Houston. Nate Pearson, who is being stretched out as a starter, threw two innings in West Palm Beach.
— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) April 7, 2026
This team is in so much peril right now that they get TWO team updates. Josh Hader facing live hitters would be a big step forward for him. It would signify that he is much closer to a rehab assignment than ever, but the team is being cautious here. It is peculiar to note that his bullpen sessions aren’t close together in length, as they are seemimgly very cautious here. Regardless, a move forward is a move forward, and we should treat it as a positive sign. As for Nate Pearson, he does have an elbow injury that he’s recovering from, but he’s a sneaky add in the deepest of leagues.
Cody Bolton – SP Houston Astros
Cody Bolton exited the game with mid-back tightness, according to the Astros.
— Chandler Rome (@Chandler_Rome) April 12, 2026
Normally, Bolton would be far from fantasy-relevant, given his lack of upside or track record. However, the Astros are desperate for healthy arms, and right now, he is their fourth-best pitcher. It was revealed that he left the game because of a pre-existing issue and that he will receive imaging. If he misses time, then anyone reading this has a chance to live their childhood dreams and become a Major League pitcher for the time being.
Arizona Diamondbacks – Team Update
Couple quick @Dbacks notes:
Merrill Kelly will start Tuesday in Baltimore against @JakeDRill’s Orioles.
No roster move yet for Moreno. Sounds like a good chance it will be a catcher but stay tuned.— Steve Gilbert (@SteveGilbertMLB) April 12, 2026
Great news here that Merrill Kelly will make his anticipated 2026 debut at Baltimore this Tuesday. Fantasy managers may want to wait to see how he handles this first start before inserting him into the lineup. Regardless, it’s good news that the Diamondbacks have their ace back. Ganriel Moreno has yet to be placed on the Injured List, and it’s unclear if they’re waiting for someone in particular.
Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update
Some good news: Kyle Harrison and Brandon Sproat checked out ok with their knees, but Harrison has some soreness in his wrist after his fall that will bear watching.
— Todd Rosiak (@Todd_Rosiak) April 12, 2026
The Brewers can ill afford to lose two starters from their rotation, especially with Quinn Priester still recovering from his injury. The good news here is that both Kyle Harrison and Brandon Sproat have avoided significant damage to their knees. Harrison got hit in the knee from a throw when he was covering first base, while Sproat landed awkwardly while grabbing a groundball this weekend. Both should be okay, with the hope that these ailments don’t interfere with their preparation for their next starts.
Christian Yelich – OF Milwaukee Brewers
Pat Murphy says it might be bad news on Christian Yelich.
Occurred in his last AB. Says there is already some fluid in the area.
The injuries and adversity continue to pile up.
— Todd Rosiak (@Todd_Rosiak) April 12, 2026
Looks like Yelich will be headed to the Injured List. Be sure to keep updated as we get closer to lineups locking. Milwaukee unfortunately doesn’t play until tomorrow, so the decision to include him in your lineups will be difficult. Regardless, I’d look elsewhere for at least this week.
Nick Pivetta – SP San Diego Padres
Update from the Padres clubhouse: Nick Pivetta left today’s game with right elbow stiffness.
— San Diego Padres (@Padres) April 12, 2026
This was a bummer. Pivetta was slicing and dicing up the Rockies yesterday, and then this happened. It’s hard to imagine this ending well for him, but there is a chance that we get better news once the Padres examine him further. For now, I’d keep him out of lineups this week and wait for updates.
Wyatt Langford – OF Texas Rangers
Wyatt Langford’s status is still status quo. He went through his running progression today, played catch and hit in the cages.
“All good signs,” Skip Schumaker said.
— Shawn McFarland (@McFarland_Shawn) April 12, 2026
Langford was pulled early on Friday because of quad tightness. He missed the rest of the weekend’s games, though the team believes this is only a minor issue. Time will tell if he needs a trip to the Injured List.
Baltimore Orioles – Team Update
Orioles injured list:
OF Tyler O'Neill (concussion)
C Adley Rutschman (ankle)
2B Jackson Holliday (hamate)
OF Heston Kjerstad (hamstring)
RHP Andrew Kittredge (shoulder)
LHP Keegan Akin (groin)
LHP Dietrich Enns (foot)
RHP Yaramil Hiraldo (shoulder)
RHP Colin Selby (shoulder,…— Jacob Calvin Meyer (@jcalvinmeyer) April 12, 2026
What a list, and it’s growing daily. Tyler O’Neill will miss at least seven days because of a concussion sustained at some point last week. As for Jackson Holliday, he continues to struggle at the plate, batting under .200 during this rehab assignment. That being said, he’s a young hitter who didn’t get a chance to work on things in the spring, so he will need some time to get back into it. Finally, Adley Rutschman went on the Injured List this weekend with an ankle injury that was bothering him. Using that part of his body is key for catchers, so he will need to be 100% healthy before returning.
George Springer – OF Toronto Blue Jays
Sounds like this could be close to the minimum of 10 days for George Springer.
If it were later in the year, he may have tried to play through it after a few days off, but the #BlueJays don’t want to push it and have Springer playing compromised.
— Keegan Matheson (@KeeganMatheson) April 12, 2026
Springer suffered a fractured toe this weekend, and the team placed him on the Injured List after much deliberation. It looks like he’ll miss around the minimum, though they would be wise to be careful with things like this, especially this early in the season. The hope is that they don’t put the long-term needs of the team on the back burner to fulfill some short-term needs now.
