Welcome back, golf fans. After another exciting U.S. Open Championship, the PGA Tour rolls on and heads to TPC River Highlands for the Travelers Championship and the final signature event of the season. An elite field of 72 players will tee it up, with 60 of them competing in last week’s U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills.
In this article, we will preview the course, top trends and stats, and look at the players who I will be adding to my betcard this week.

The Course: TPC River Highlands
TPC River Highlands is a Pete Dye-designed par-70 course that plays as one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour (6,844 yards). Don’t let that fool you, as it sits middle of the pack in terms of average scoring, playing just around a half stroke below par. Like other Pete Dye designs, positioning is key around TPC River Highlands, both off the tee and on approach. When looking at correlated strokes gained stats over the last two years, when this event has played as a signature event, both SG: Off the Tee and SG: Approach have been at the top by a large margin.
Stats & Trends That Matter: Finding the 2026 Travelers Championship Champion
Top Stats:
- Strokes Gained: Ball Striking –Â It starts with positioning off the tee, which has me much higher on accuracy over distance, but as always, players who excel in both can gain a significant advantage. The winning score should once again be in the -18 to -22 range, and that starts with a strong iron game. The short course also produces a higher than average amount of mid iron approaches, so that will also be included in my model
- Birdie or Better % –Â This gives us a nice scope of the players who are hot with their irons, putter, or both.
- Pete Dye Form –Â I will look closely at the players who have great form on the four regular rotation Pete Dye courses over the last few years. Those courses are TPC River Highlands, TPC Sawgrass, Harbour Town, and Pete Dye Stadium Course
- Signature Event Form – Elite fields in the signature events, and I will include form since the start of 2015 (15 events)
Scottie Scheffler (+450 Outright)
TPC River Highlands is a ball striker’s paradise, and no one fits that model more than World #1, Scottie Scheffler. He is 5th/15th in SG: Off the Tee and Approach for the season and has been even better lately, ranking 3rd/1st in those areas over the last five events. He has a great course history with a win (2024) and four straight finishes of 13th or better. He has dominated Pete Dye design, winning four of the last 10 with seven total Top 10’s.
If not liking the low number on the straight-up outright, parlay it with some Top 10 or Top 20 bets, but definitely find a way to get some exposure to Scottie this week. I would even go as far as waiting for a better Top 5 number should he start out slow, which has been a trend in 2026.
Russell Henley (+3400 Outright / +510 Top 5 / +225 Top 10)
Henley’s outright number is one I feel will definitely be lower closer to tee off Thursday morning so get on it as early as possible. He thrives on these positional-type courses, especially at Pete Dye designs, where he has the 8th-best average finish since the start of 2025. That includes a streak of five straight Top 25’s with three top 10’s. He also has a win at a signature event, hoisting the 2025 API trophy, and has ranks 6th in SG: Total in signature events since the start of 2025. I love a ladder bet with Henley this week.
Patrick Cantlay (+2700 Outright / +450 Top 5 / +205 Top 10)
Cantlay is another player I like for ladder betting this week with the most exposure on the Top 10 market. He is coming off a disappointing U.S. Open missed cut, but had five Top 20’s and three Top 10’s in his previous six events. He is 7th in SG: Ball Striking and 19th in Birdie or Better % over the last 20 rounds, and is top 5 in both my Pete Dye and Signature Event rankings.
Brian Harman (+390 Top 10 / +154 Top 20)
When talking horses for courses, Brian Harman’s name is right near the top of the list here at TPC River Highlands. He returns with top 10 finishes in five straight and seven of his last eight Travelers Championships. It isn’t just here either, as Harman has plus Pete Dye form with Top 25 finishes in four of his last five, with two top 10’s. The form hasn’t been great, but he has been consistent, making the cut in 12 of his last 13 events with four top 25 finishes. Good form or bad, Harman always seems to find it here at the Travelers, and the reason he will be on my bet card this week.
