Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, June 22, 2026. In today’s edition, the Pirates look to send Konnor Griffin off to a rehab assignment within the coming days, Bobby Witt Jr.’s status for this week feels like a true coin flip, and the Orioles, who are no strangers to playing undermanned, may be without two key pieces for a while. You can read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report
Konnor Griffin – SS Pittsburgh Pirates
On his weekly radio show, Pirates GM Ben Cherington says he expects Konnor Griffin to play rehab games before the end of the week “barring something unforeseen.”
Expects Griffin to be in Pittsburgh (for a check-in) before then.
— Colin Beazley (@colin_beazley) June 21, 2026
It’s the news that we’ve all been waiting for, as it would appear that Griffin’s next steps in his progression will be happening soon. Barring any unforeseen circumstances with this check-in, the budding superstar of Pittsburgh should be back in their lineup sometime in the beginning of July. That said, they may take their time like they’ve promised before, since he is such a major part of their future.
Bobby Witt Jr. – SS Kansas City Royals
No Bobby Witt Jr. in today’s lineup but manager Matt Quatraro says Witt is feeling better and walking around better today. He’ll be getting treatment today and will be reevaluated ahead of tomorrow’s game. #Royals

This is unfortunately the only news that we have, and we won’t know more until lineups lock today. My suggestion here would be to have Plan B at shortstop, as I could very well see them placing him on the Injured List out of nowhere. That said, keep yourselves up to date close to when lineups actually lock, and maybe there will be a hint as to the direction the team is going. Anne Rogers is one of the best beat reporters out there, and she is always on top of things as they happen.
Adley Rutschman – C Baltimore Orioles
Adley Rutschman goes to 7-day concussion injured list. Michael Siani replaces Rutschman on roster for #Orioles
— Rich DubroffMLB (@RichDubroffMLB) June 21, 2026
Such an unfortunate development here, as Rutschman was having a nice bounce-back season. The hope here is that his absence isn’t extensive and that when he does come back, there are no lingering effects. We’ve seen examples of players who get concussions struggle upon their return in the past. Fingers crossed that this isn’t yet another example of that.
Jackson Holliday – 2B Baltimore Orioles
Orioles’ Jackson Holliday said he first felt some tightness in his groin on Friday, felt it again last night on groundout to end 6th.
Doesn’t think it’s going to be an issue. Thinks he could play off the bench today if needed.
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) June 21, 2026
Holliday did not enter Sunday’s game, but that may have been because the team was up by so much late in the contest. The Orioles do play today, so we should get some clarity on how he is feeling before the game’s opening pitch.
Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update
Injury updates, per Dave Roberts:
-Teoscar Hernández's rehab assignment will be with Triple-A OKC. The hope is he'll return in Sacramento (6/29).
-Will Smith will not travel on this road trip. He could return early next homestand (starting 7/2) and may need a short rehab stint.— Sonja Chen (@SonjaMChen) June 21, 2026
Good news and bad news for the Dodgers. The good news is that Teoscar Hernandez has an endgame in sight, with that being one week from today. Should everything go to plan over the next week, we could see the veteran back in the lineup for the Dodgers, looking to get on track for the summer months. As for Will Smith, the plan for him to return is slated for the beginning of July, but that is definitely written in pencil and can change on a dime. His status feels more up in the air, and the fact that he is not travelling with the team is somewhat disappointing.
Munetaka Murakami – 3B Chicago White Sox
Venable on Murakami: "Not 100 percent obviously or else he would be playing games. But trending in that direction. Getting up to 80 percent in his running. Increasing the intensity of the hitting. A lot of good progress."
— Scott Merkin (@scottmerkin) June 21, 2026
This is all positive news, as the rookie is now closer than ever to being at full baseball activities. He continues to trend in the right direction, and his original timetable of mid-July remains intact. Fantasy managers and White Sox fans can be happy that he is on the right path for a complete recovery.
Corey Seager – SS Texas Rangers
Corey Seager is still day-to-day but he was out on the field with the team during warmups, defensive drills, etc.
He’ll travel with the team this week but it’s still TBD when he might return to play.
— Shawn McFarland (@McFarland_Shawn) June 21, 2026
Seager has already passed the seven-day threshold for this to be a minimum stay on the Injured List, but that doesn’t mean that this is a very serious injury. Given his extensive injury history, it’s fair to assume that he may miss a bit more time here. That being said, if we are to revisit his history with injuries, chances are he just randomly gets activated without even requiring a rehab assignment. Be prepared on a whim’s notice to activate him. For those who roster him in weekly leagues, you may unfortunately fall victim to him being on your bench for most of the time he’s back.
Jared Jones – SP Pittsburgh Pirates
Initial images of Jared Jones’ right elbow read as negative. He will be reexamined by team medical staff tomorrow in Pittsburgh.
— Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) June 21, 2026
This was a scary situation in Colorado yesterday, as Jones took a line drive off of his elbow, resulting in an early exit. While the good news is that there is no sign of a fracture, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he’s out of the clear just yet. We should know more about his condition once he is examined the day after. Consider his situation one classified as day-to-day, and, at the moment, put him into your lineups for next week.
Elly De La Cruz – SS Cincinnati Reds

Be prepared!
Matthew Boyd – SP Chicago Cubs

Boyd pitched well in his last rehab appearance, working four scoreless innings and tossing 59 pitches. It’s not set in stone that he will return to the Cubs, but he looked solid and healthy during this game. Chances are he’s fine after a bullpen with the team, as the team wants to check all of the boxes given the fact that he did suffer a setback of sorts a while back. That, and the fact that he only threw 59 pitches, and the team just wants to be extra cautious. That being said, they are desperate for any sort of healthy pitching to be in their rotation, so they are likely greeting him back with open arms, pun intended.
Brandon Woodruff – SP Milwaukee Brewers

— Todd Rosiak (@Todd_Rosiak) June 21, 2026
Be prepared…..to put him into your lineup, but also be prepared with a backup plan. The good: he stretched himself out to 81 pitches over his rehab starts, struck out eleven batters, and only administered three walks in nine innings of work. The bad: he only worked through two rehab appearances and gave up ten hits, finishing with a 6.00 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. It’s hard to know what to expect here.
