It’s all temporary. With the NBA Trade Deadline quickly approaching, things are going to change before we meet again. But that doesn’t mean we should take a week off.
The NBA landscape never stops changing, and there’s always going to be a move to make. Let’s jump right into some options on the fantasy basketball waiver wire that you should be considering.
Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire
Dominick Barlow, C, Philadelphia 76ers
When an opportunity presents itself, you have to take it. The circumstances around that opportunity don’t matter, just the result. In this case, we are talking about a 25-game suspension for Paul George.
In his fourth NBA season, Dominick Barlow has taken a large step forward after a previously, non-descript career. Barlow has doubled his workload and is playing 23.6 minutes per game. He’s averaging 7.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 55.3% from the field, along with 77% from the free-throw line.
Barlow’s scoring has been inconsistent, but he does have four games of double-digit scoring in January. Now, with George out of the lineup, it appears that Barlow will be the biggest beneficiary. He’s now going to have a consistent role in the starting lineup, and the volume should be there as well.
Bilal Coulibaly, F, Washington Wizards
For the rest of the season, the Washington Wizards are going to be the land of opportunity. They are clearly rebuilding, and there’s plenty of opportunity for volume.
After missing five games with a back injury, Bilal Coulibaly has returned. Despite playing between 24 and 28 minutes in those three games, Coulibaly hasn’t scored more than eight points. However, he did have a game with 10 rebounds and another with six assists.
Overall in January, Coulibaly averaged 9.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game. To close out the well-rounded production, Coulibaly has 1.6 steals and one block per game in that stretch. The forward also shoots 80.6% from the free-throw line and can be a well-rounded contributor. We know that the playing time is going to be there, and Coulibaly can make an impact across multiple categories.
Moussa Diabate, C, Charlotte Hornets
In his fourth NBA season, Moussa Diabate appears to be truly taking the next step. And he should be doing so on your fantasy team. At this point, Diabate isn’t someone who should still be available on the waiver wire.
This year, Diabate is averaging 8.5 points and 8.5 rebounds while shooting an elite 64.1% from the field. As of late, though, the center has taken things to the next level.
He’s already up to 13 double-doubles on the season and has three in his last six games. This is where Diabate has seemingly settled in, averaging 12.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. The center averaged 28 minutes per game in that stretch while adding assists and a blocked shot.
While settling in, Diabate has also become more efficient as he’s shooting 75.6% from the field. It’s not ideal, but he also has a 71.4% success rate from the free throw line in that stretch. There’s nothing to suggest that this success won’t continue. Perhaps more importantly, we also don’t have to worry about playing time or opportunity for Diabate.
