2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #89 Cole Carrigg

We’re 53 days from Opening Day, and the 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series shifts to a high-energy up-the-middle athlete. Coming in at #89 is Cole Carrigg, a switch-hitting center fielder whose game is built on speed, versatility, and contact ability. Carrigg doesn’t rely on loud power, but his ability to impact the game in multiple ways keeps him firmly on the dynasty radar. As the list tightens, he profiles as a potential table-setter with sneaky fantasy utility.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #89 Cole Carrigg

The Rockies don’t often turn heads with upper-minors bats, but Cole Carrigg is quietly forcing his way into that conversation. He spent 2025 in Double-A and put together the kind of across-the-board profile that plays in Denver: athletic, versatile, and tailor-made to turn the spacious outfield into a track meet. There’s real growth here, and while the approach still needs tightening, the shape of his production hints at a fantasy skill set worth stashing before the hype catches up.

Carrigg’s 2025 line doesn’t scream star on the surface, but it does speak fluently in fantasy: .237/.316 with a .711 OPS, 15 home runs, 18 doubles, six triples, and a robust 46 steals across 537 plate appearances. That added up to a 107 wRC+, a tick above league average despite an OBP that sat 26 points below the Double-A mean. He’s doing it with impact on contact and pressure on the basepaths. The swing-and-miss is the obvious wart; a 14.7% swinging-strike rate typically maps to a strikeout rate around 27%, given his 145 punchouts, and his 45 walks put him near an 8% walk rate. The takeaway for fantasy is simple: there’s risk in the rate categories, but his power/speed outputs give him multiple paths to relevancy.

Under the hood, the batted-ball mix suggests a hitter who can weaponize Coors. Carrigg logged a .157 ISO with a balanced spray chart, 42.2% pull, 22.5% to center, 35.3% oppo, and an air-ball profile that’s healthy without being sell-out (37.7% fly balls, 20.9% line drives, 41.4% grounders). He doesn’t need to live pull-side to do damage; the ability to drive the opposite gap plus plus speed is a cheat code in Denver’s alleys. The six triples are the teaser of that skill set. He’s a 65 runner with instincts, and the 46 bags are proof he can turn singles and walks into scoring position on his own. Defensively, the 60-grade arm and above-average glove give him a real chance to move around the diamond, center field or shortstop being the most logical doors to early playing time.

There’s still development left to unlock. The swing decisions and in-zone contact rate need to tick up so that the OBP can climb into the .330 range. He doesn’t have to be a pure bat-to-ball type; he just needs to shave a couple of points off the whiff and get to more hitters’ counts. If that happens, the current 50-grade game power could play a notch higher at altitude, and the foundation for double-digit homers with high-end steals is already in place. Ranked 89th on our board with a 2027 ETA, Carrigg’s defensive value and wheels give him multiple avenues to debut, whether as a true everyday option or a lineup-anchoring super-utility.

Fantasy Outlook

Dynasty managers should view Carrigg as a category-juice play with everyday upside if the hit tool nudges forward. The realistic peak looks like 12–15 homers with 30–40 steals, a volatile batting average in the .240–.260 window, and the chance for better run production if he’s living in Coors’ gaps. In standard Roto, that stolen base volume makes him a worthy stash now; in OBP or Points formats, the current swing-and-miss profile and middling walk rate cap the ceiling until he proves he can tighten the zone. 2026 feels like the earliest we’d see a cup of coffee, with 2027 the more likely runway for meaningful at-bats. In deeper dynasty and NL-only leagues, I’m buying the athleticism, defensive flexibility, and park fit, just budget some time (and batting-average variance) while the approach matures.
