Fantasy Football 2025: Week 1 RB Rankings

Finally, football is back, and nothing is more nerve-racking than your Week 1 matchup. But, lucky for you, I got you covered with my top-60 Week 1 RB rankings. Going into the 2025 season, I will say the RB position will be the one to make or break your season. So, if you went zero RB or hero RB, you will need to check these rankings each week. Week 1 will be the test to see if it is worth picking up players like Kendre Miller, Ollie Gordon II or Woody Marks. All of which should be on your waivers, and to be honest, I would pick them up as a stash for the next couple of weeks.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.

Running Back Notes

  • Let’s start with Omarion Hampton as my RB17. I have him ranked a bit lower this week for a couple of reasons. They are playing the Chiefs, who are tough against the run, and they are playing in Brazil. We saw the field conditions last year were not good for football, but this year could be different. Either way, it is something to monitor. But, even with all these negative factors, I still believe Hampton should be an RB2 start this week. Najee Harris’ injury is still up in the air as to whether he will play. And if he does, I expect him to be extremely limited, as he barely hit the practice field at the end of August.
  • Next, I have James Conner as my RB12 this week. He has the great pleasure of playing the Saints this week. The Saints could finish as the worst team in the league this year, and this is the week Conner goes off. Conner just had his healthiest season since 2021. I expect him to score a ton this week, and then after this week, you should sell high on Conner. I do think Trey Benson will make his move into the offense, which will hurt Conner’s fantasy impact. But this week is a must-start for Conner.
  • Lastly, I have Tony Pollard as my RB25 this week. I believe Pollard will be a solid RB2 for the rest of the season with Tyjae Spears out for a few weeks. But Pollard is going to get shut down by the best defense in the league this week. Rookie quarterback Cam Ward is going to have a rough go for his first start, going against this Broncos defense. If the passing game can’t get going, then the run game is not going to go well either. All signs point to benching Pollard this week.
