The first month of the Minor League season is now in the books, and many of the games’ top prospects are off to a hot start. In this series, we dive into each level of hitting and pitching and find some of the standouts to target in our dynasty leagues. This can range from a 10-team league all the way to deep league formats such as a 30-team dynasty set up. This week, we will be diving into Low-A batting prospects who are standing out early on. It’s best to get in on the ground floor with some of these prospects while they are available on your waiver wire for free. Let’s dive into some Low-A batting standouts.
Low-A Hitting Prospects
Carolina League
Luiyin Alastre, SS MIL
(17 GP, .311/.391/.508, 1 HR, 13 R, 13 RBI, 1 SB)
The Milwaukee Brewers just announced that Luiyin Alastre has been promoted to High-A, so let us take a moment to dive in. Standing 5’10” and 160 pounds, Alastre is a switch hitter who is 19 years old and has stood out over the last two seasons for his bat-ball skills, including his eye at the plate. Signed out of Venezuela back in 2023, Alastre impressed in his first taste of professional ball in the DSL, slashing .287/.387/.375 with one home run, 22 runs scored, 17 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in 42 games played. What stood out right away was the discipline at the plate as he walked 13.5% while striking out just 11% of the time.

This season, the Brewers started Alastre out in Low-A Carolina, where he went off. Across 17 games played, he slashed .311/.391/.508 with one home run, 13 runs and RBIs, and stole one base. The plate discipline remained solid for Alastre, who walked 8.7% while striking out just 11.6% across 69 plate appearances this season. Despite the low home run total, we did see some extra base pop in Alastre’s bat as he had seven of his 19 total hits go for extra bases. Currently, Alastre is under 1% owned in Fantrax dynasty leagues, making this an easy prospect to grab on the waiver wire in deeper dynasty formats.
Jesus Made, SS MIL
(17 GP, .329/.420/.529, 3 HR, 16 R, 15 RBI, 8 SB)
One of the top prospects right now in baseball is Jesus Made of the Milwaukee Brewers, and early on, he is living up to all the hype. Standing 6’1” and 187 pounds, Made is a switch-hitter who is about to turn 18 years old. In the DSL back in 2024, Made stood out starting in 51 games, slashing .331/.458/.554 with six home runs, 63 runs, 28 RBIs, and 28 stolen bases in 32 attempts. At the plate, Made showed a disciplined approach, walking 18.1% while striking out just 13% of his 216 total plate appearances.
Jesus Made continues to rake, with a 1.006 OPS in in his last 12 games, including 4 XBH, 5 BB and 6 SB.

This season, Made is off to a hot start in Low-A. Across 17 games played, Made is slashing .329/.420/.529 with three home runs, 16 runs scored, 15 RBIs, and eight stolen bases in nine attempts. Continuing the excellent plate approach we saw in 2024, Made is walking 11.1% while striking out 18.5%. What can not be seen in his statistics is Made’s ability to come up clutch in big moments. This season, he has already had a walk-off hit and has given opposing pitchers fits early on. At 43% rostered in Fantrax dynasty leagues, this probably isn’t a waiver wire add but has the makings of a true impact bat for years to come.
Florida State League
Josh Kross, 1B STL
(19 GP, .288/.376/.671, 6 HR, 18 R, 29 RBI, 1 SB)
Flying under the radar right now in the Cardinals organization is Josh Kross, but I don’t expect him to stay that way for long based on this hot start to the season. Drafted in the sixth round of the 2024 MLB Draft out of Cincinnati, Kross stands 6’2” and 226 pounds, playing primarily first base, and is a switch hitter. This is Kross’s second stint in Low-A as he slashed just .216/.383/.311 in 23 games played after being drafted, but showed a solid approach, walking 16% while striking out 10.6% of his 94 total plate appearances.

This season, we are seeing Kross thrive early on. Across 19 games played, he is slashing .288/.376/.671 with six home runs, 18 runs scored, 29 RBIs, and one stolen base. In addition to the home run pop, Kross has 14 of his 21 total hits going for extra bases. At the plate, Kross continues to show a patient approach as he has walked 7.1% while striking out 17.6% across 85 plate appearances thus far. Currently, Josh Kross is rostered in 1% of Fantrax dynasty leagues, making this a solid deep league add.
Aroon Escobar, 2B PHI
(19 GP, .360/.461/.627, 5 HR, 21 R, 18 RBI, 1 SB)
Philadelphia has something special coming through the pipeline in Aroon Escobar, and now established in Low-A to start the season, he has come out swinging a hot bat. Standing 5’10” and 180 pounds batting from the right side of the plate, Escobar is 20 years old and has the potential for above-average power and speed paired with an excellent eye at the plate. Escobar really started to hit his stride last season while playing in the complex league. Across 24 games played, the 19-year-old slashed .338/.495/.481 with three home runs, 24 runs scored, 17 RBIs, and stole nine bases. The plate discipline was off the charts as Escobar walked a staggering 20.2% while striking out just 9.6% of his 104 total plate appearances.
Aroon Escobar remains red hot 🥵
The Phillies infielder caught scouts’ attention this spring and already has four Low-A homers.
He’s now hitting .393/.477/.696 over 14 games.

This season, he picked up where he had left off, and he was one of the top power bats in the Florida State League early on. Across 19 games played, Escobar is slashing .360/.461/.627 with five home runs, 21 runs scored, 18 RBIs, and one stolen base. Over his 89 plate appearances, Escobar is walking 12.4% while striking out 22.5% thus far. Aroon Escobar is currently rostered in just 14% of Fantrax dynasty leagues, making this a solid pickup in 15-team leagues and up.
California League
Zach Evans, 3B SDP
(22 GP, .348/.410/.472, 1 HR, 15 R, 22 RBI, 4 SB)
Standing out as one of the best batters in the California League has been Zach Evans. Drafted in the ninth round of the 2024 MLB draft out of Lenoir-Rhyne University, Evans stands 6’4” and 210 pounds, batting from the right side. At 22 years old, Evans is old for the level, but in his first action of professional ball, he has done everything right. In 22 games played, Evans is slashing .348/.410/.472 with one home run, 15 runs scored, 22 RBIs, and four stolen bases in six attempts. At the plate, Evans has shown a solid walk rate at 10.5% while striking out 21% of his 105 plate appearances thus far. There is some pop in the bat as Evans has already hit six doubles and has eight extra base hits out of his 31 total hits.

This seems to be what the Padres do each season, having prospects pop up with strong performances in Low-A and High-A. When it comes to Evans, this could be a prime opportunity to stash and see what happens once he gets bumped to High-A, which should be soon, given the dominance shown thus far. Currently, Evans is rostered in less than 1% of Fantrax dynasty leagues, making this a solid stash in deep leagues.
Pedro Pineda, OF ATH
(16 GP, .309/.433/.618, 4 HR, 11 R, 13 RBI, 1 SB)
The Athletics have a lot going on with the move to Las Vegas after the 2026 season, and the Major League club is starting to turn a corner with the young talent producing. Pedro Pineda might be starting to figure things out in Low-A as he has gotten off to a blistering start. Standing 6’1”, 170 pounds and batting from the right side, Pineda was signed out of the Dominican Republic back in 2021 and has had a slow go of it in recent seasons. Now 21 years old, Pineda is currently in his fourth stint in Low-A, and this is far and away his best performance yet.

— Stockton Ports (@stocktonports) April 18, 2025
Across 16 games played, Pineda is slashing .309/.433/.618 with four home runs, 11 runs scored, 13 RBIs, and one stolen base. Pineda has always had solid walk rates in his career, so the 14.9% is on par with what we have seen, but he has lowered his strikeout percentage to 29.9%, down from 33.1% in 2024. Regardless of the improvement in the strikeout percentage, there is still more work to be done, but I expect the Athletics to promote Pineda here soon, as confidence is running high. Pedro Pineda is currently rostered in 3% of Fantrax dynasty leagues.
