MLB Injury Report
Toronto Blue Jays – Team Update
George Springer is OK, Schneider says. Looked scary at the time when he took a knee to the throat, but the #BlueJays don’t expect it to be serious.
Bo Bichette (knee) stepped on a ball pre-game. Sounds day-to-day but they don’t expect to need tests.
— Keegan Matheson (@KeeganMatheson) July 1, 2025
A terrifying situation indeed, as Springer went sliding into third base, but hit Chisholm’s knee in the process. The unfortunate (or fortunate, however you view it) part of this was that it was his throat that smashed into him, causing some whiplash on Springer’s head and body. Had it been a few inches in a different direction, we might be talking about a broken jaw or nose with some missing teeth, and a possible concussion. For now, consider Springer day-to-day, though the team will likely give updates throughout the day. As for Bo Bichette, the hope is that he did not suffer anything serious after stepping on the baseball. It will all depend on how he feels once he arrives at the ballpark.
Hunter Greene – SP Cincinnati Reds
Hunter Greene has a live bullpen scheduled in Boston on Wednesday. Then he’ll throw again in Philly before going on a rehab assignment. He said the rehab process has been smooth.
On Chase Burns: I had high hopes. He has looked fantastic.
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) June 30, 2025
Great news here on Hunter Greene, who is recovering from multiple injuries. Tomorrow’s live bullpen will be a big step forward, with the hope that his body feels fine afterward. If that’s the case, then it would appear that all systems are a go for him moving through what should be an extended rehab assignment.
Trent Grisham – OF New York Yankees
Trent Grisham speaks to @M_Marakovits and the rest of the media after exiting tonight's game in the fifth inning with left hamstring tightness. #YANKSonYES pic.twitter.com/1uQcvworEy
— YES Network (@YESNetwork) July 1, 2025
Grisham said that his cleat got caught up in the turf while running to catch a ball, and that’s when the injury happened. He also said that it’s too early to tell and that he is trying to remain optimistic about the situation. It all depends on how he feels in the morning, but there’s a good chance that he misses today’s game. Whether or not this requires a trip to the Injured List remains unknown.
Austin Wells – C New York Yankees
Austin Wells said there is damage to an artery in his index finger, likely from repeated impacts of catching pitches.
“I wasn’t too worried, but I just wanted to make sure,” Wells said. “It just gets cold and changes colors. Now I know it’s nothing life-threatening.”— Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) July 1, 2025
This is considered great news because earlier in the day, he had testing done around the artery in his groin area, which was completed to rule out blood clots and aneurysms. It turns out that those tests did not reveal anything serious, and those worries can be (hopefully) put to rest. For now, however, this painful injury could still mean that he misses time, though it’s unclear right now if it is just a comfort thing or something more. While some artery issues can lead to the loss of a limb, it doesn’t feel like we’re there just yet. Since it’s been noted and addressed, one would have to think that the team would find the best doctors to help him deal with this.
Hunter Goodman – C Colorado Rockies
NEWS: #Rockies are expected to call up C Austin Nola, according to @harding_at_mlb
Nola has been hitting .330 in Triple-A
Hunter Goodman has been considered day to day with hamstring tightness and hasn’t played since 6/25. We will likely get an update on his status tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/jvOXaGM6GB
— DNVR Rockies (@DNVR_Rockies) July 1, 2025
This all but means that Goodman will indeed be placed on the Injured List and miss the current homestand. For fantasy purposes, this is a major bummer.
Charlie Morton – SP Baltimore Orioles
Charlie Morton pushed back to Friday in Atlanta with low grade elbow tendinitis. Brandon Young starts tomorrow #orioles
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) June 30, 2025
The Orioles are already down a few arms, and having Morton pushed back is not ideal. If he misses any additional time, this rotation, which is already in shambles, becomes even more vulnerable.
Baltimore Orioles – Team Update
Jorge Mateo was pulled from his rehab game last night due to a hamstring issue. The Orioles are evaluating the hamstring and don’t know severity yet.
Cade Povich has hip soreness and his rehab assignment has been cut short for the moment. Next steps are TBD
— Andy Kostka (@afkostka) June 30, 2025
For a team that is currently going through it with offensive and pitching health woes, having two players pulled from their rehab assignments is beyond worrisome. Both of these players, Jorge Mateo and Cade Povich, will be re-evaluated in the coming days, and their returns will likely be delayed by at least a week here.
Tyler O’Neill – OF Baltimore Orioles
Tyler O’Neill reporting to Norfolk. .#orioles think could be reinstated on this trip
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) June 30, 2025
Finally, some good news for the Orioles. Be prepared!
San Francisco Giants – Team Update
Bob Melvin said it’s possible Matt Chapman returns for the entire homestand (so, back in a week). It also should be a short IL stint for Casey Schmitt. Giants basically just have to get through the rest of this trip. https://t.co/9wOyr1H0Kb
— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) June 30, 2025
It appears that Matt Chapman feels better and that he will be pushing to return much sooner than anticipated. It was originally believed that he would miss time through the All-Star Break, but those plans might be changing. It will be interesting to see how he feels today after yesterday’s batting practice. If he feels fine, he and the team may accelerate his progress by pushing for a quicker return, since they are in World Series mode and because Casey Schmitt went to the Injured List yesterday, too.
Corbin Carroll – OF Arizona Diamondbacks
Corbin Carroll will start taking dry swings tomorrow ( no impact with ball)
Per Torey Lovullo
— Jack Sommers (@shoewizard59) June 30, 2025
Great news here, as Carroll works his way back from a chip fracture in his wrist. Still, he is not expected back until at least after the All-Star Break, and that might be pushing it.
Tyler Mahle – SP Texas Rangers
Tyler Mahle has a rotator cuff strain, per Chris Young. He’ll continue to be shut down, but they’re in a bit more of a holding pattern for now.
Prescription from the doctor is just rest for now. More of a short term issue than long.
— kennedi landry (@kennlandry) June 30, 2025
Mahle has been out of action since his designation to the Injured List. While the team hopes for this to be a short-term issue, this is by no means a minor ailment at this point. There is a good chance that he will be out past the All-Star Break, with no real end in sight. Should this escalate into something major, we could be seeing upward of a year’s absence before returning. While speculating can get out of hand, for now, let’s hope that the Rangers are correct and that this is a minor situation.
Texas Rangers – Team Update
Chris Young said the Rangers are expecting Jake Burger back on Friday in San Diego and Wyatt Langford on Saturday.
— kennedi landry (@kennlandry) June 30, 2025
Be prepared! (Though admittedly, this feels too quick for a return from an oblique injury for both Wyatt Langford and Jake Burger, so stay tuned)
