Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Tuesday, July 15, 2025. With the pause of the All-Star break, we’ll take some time to examine current injuries position by position. In today’s edition, the infield will be examined, as all of the major fantasy-relevant injuries at various positions will be listed for your reference. Keep in mind that injuries change and get updated rapidly, though during the All-Star Break, news tends to slow down. Here we go.

MLB Injury Report
Arizona Diamondbacks
Gabrield Moreno – catcher
Torey Lovullo said Shelby Miller had his MRI, but there is no update yet.
Gabriel Moreno saw a hand specialist and the fracture is still there. They will reevaluate him in 10 days.
Kendall Graveman came out of his rehab outing in the ACL yesterday feeling good.
— Alex Weiner (@alexjweiner) July 9, 2025
Moreno has been out of action since the middle of June with a hairline fracture in his pointer finger. Until that fracture heals, there isn’t much of an opportunity for a return. We should know more once he’s re-evaluated.
Atlanta Braves
Austin Riley – third baseman
3B Austin Riley was removed from tonight’s game due to lower abdominal tightness.
— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) July 12, 2025
This injury happened just before the All-Star Break. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about the severity of the situation. There is a chance that the team instantly placed him on the Injured List as a precaution. Stay tuned for updates, though he won’t be eligible to return until next week.
Baltimore Orioles
Ryan Mountcastle – first baseman
Ryan Mountcastle should go to Norfolk on July 22 to begin rehab assignment. Zach Eflin pitches for Chesapeake on Sunday, Povich for Aberdeen. #Orioles
— Rich DubroffMLB (@RichDubroffMLB) July 12, 2025
Excellent news here, as Mountcastle looks just about ready to ramp himself back up for a potential return shortly after that.
Adley Rutschman – catcher
#Orioles injury updates from Mansolino
-Keegan Akin (shoulder) received injection, shut down 5-7 days. Return after All-Star break.
-Zach Eflin (back) could make rehab start Sunday
-Grayson Rodriguez (lat) bullpen yesterday, catch today
-Adley Rutschman (oblique) hit off tee
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) July 9, 2025
Rutschman has also caught games and will continue to do so next weekend. It’s unclear when he will return, as there have been rumors of him not coming back until later in July or even August. His return has been a slow one, and will likely continue that way.
Colorado Rockies
Ezequiel Tovar – shortstop
#Rockies    say shortstop Ezequiel Tovar is likely to return after the All-Star breakhttps://t.co/rGuDMGVao7
— Thomas Harding (@harding_at_mlb) July 12, 2025
The team had tried to have Tovar back before the break, but it didn’t happen. Look for him to return at some point later in the week.
Houston Astros
Jeremy Pena – shortstop

— SportsTalk 790 (@SportsTalk790) July 14, 2025
Pena wouldn’t commit to answering the question of returning shortly after the break. It’s hard to imagine him being activated this week, and if this continues longer than it has, he may need a rehab assignment. As for an estimated time for a return, it’s hard to imagine him back in July.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Max Muncy – third baseman
Max Muncy said he’s looking at about six weeks out with the injury, which is about best case scenario considering how it looked at the time. pic.twitter.com/Qiar7cDLYu
— Rowan Kavner (@RowanKavner) July 3, 2025
Other than noting that Muncy has been using a stationary bike in the days after his injury, there hasn’t been much to update here. With a six-week timeline being laid out, Muncy may not return until late in August, and that’s assuming there are no setbacks.
Miami Marlins
Connor Norby – third baseman
A couple of in-game injury updates from Clayton McCullough on the Marlins broadcast.
Norby (wrist) – going to see a specialist in Arizona during the break to "plot a course of action".
Cabrera (right elbow) – optimistic he'll be back in the rotation after the break.
— Mike Cugno (@MikeCugnoCBS4) July 13, 2025
Norby hurt himself while swinging a bat last week, and he will now be seeing a specialist to help determine the best way to alleviate the pain. With that in mind, chances are that this is more serious than originally believed, and as such, he may miss extended time. Stay tuned for the diagnosis.
Milwaukee Brewers
Rhys Hoskins – first baseman
The Brewers say Rhys Hoskins is expected to be out until mid-to-late August with the UCL strain in his left thumb.
— Jack Stern (@ByJackStern) July 8, 2025
Hoskins should be back before the season ends, but right now it’s Andrew Vaughn’s chance to take over that job.
Tampa Bay Rays
Brandon Lowe – second baseman
Brandon Lowe on getting placed on the IL with oblique tightness: "We're still trending in the right direction. It's just not where we all want it to be…you want to participate in every game that you can, but with the break coming, it just didn't seem like it was the smart… https://t.co/XhxBuu7KoX
— Ryan Bass (@Ry_Bass) July 11, 2025
Lowe was placed on the Injured List late last week, after potentially avoiding it through rest and a gradual progression of physical work. Instead, he will miss time heading into and after the break, with the hope that this time isn’t as long as it was last year with the same injury. He has an extensive injury history, so there is a chance that his time away is significant.
Toronto Blue Jays
Andres Gimenez – second baseman
More Blue Jays notes:
• Yimi Garcia & Paxton Schultz threw bullpens in Toronto today
• Bowden Francis is throwing a bullpen tomorrow
• Nick Sandlin will be down from throwing for about a week before ramping back up
• Andres Gimenez doing treatment & described as week to week— Ben Nicholson-Smith (@bnicholsonsmith) July 12, 2025
Gimenez was in a walking boot before this update, and we don’t know if he’s yet out of that boot. What we do know is that we should get an update this week on his availability, though he hasn’t played a game since the beginning of July.
