Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, September 22, 2025. In today’s report, the Mariners could get their ace back, the Brewers take two steps back at the wrong time, and the Dodgers’ catching position isn’t one to focus on in fantasy this week. Read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report
Pablo Lopez – SP Minnesota Twins

In the long run, this is great for Lopez, whose offseason will have fewer concerns than it would have with a serious injury. In the short term, it looks like Taj Bradley will continue to get a chance to make something positive from this season.
Bryan Woo – SP Seattle Mariners

— Ryan Divish (@RyanDivish) September 20, 2025
This comes across as a potentially positive piece of news. The worst was expected when Woo was pulled early against the Astros, and now it appears that it was because of pectoral tightness. He is not out of the woods yet, as he will still have to be ready for his next start versus Colorado. For those wondering if they should put him into lineups this week, it’s a tentative yes, though fantasy players are encouraged to keep up with the news.
Adolis Garcia – OF Texas Rangers
Bruce Bochy said that Adolis García is available off the bench if need be. His quad is still not 100%.
— Shawn McFarland (@McFarland_Shawn) September 21, 2025
Garcia did not make it into the game yesterday, and with his quad still bothering him, it makes for an uneasy feeling to roster him in the final week of the season. Thinking bigger picture, his return last week felt rushed, as he was originally diagnosed with a Grade 2 quad strain. With the Rangers having little to play for, the wise decision would be to prepare for next season and let the backups play.
Brandon Woodruff – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Brandon Woodruff goes on the IL with a right lat strain. Pat Murphy said it came up during his bullpen yesterday. He’ll be evaluated by doctors and get a follow up opinion from surgeon Dr. Meister.
“It’s too early to tell,” Murph said on Woody’s status for the postseason.
— Sophia Minnaert (@SophiaMinnaert) September 21, 2025
Woodruff went to the Injured List with an injury that should keep him out of action for weeks. These tend to get worse before they get better, so his availability for the playoffs is in serious jeopardy. As for the fantasy playoffs, the Brewers will likely roll with Robert Gasser and Chad Patrick at the end of their rotation, and the planned move of Jacob Misiorowski to the bullpen may not happen.
Trevor Megill – RP Milwaukee Brewers
Trevor Megill’s assessment of yesterday’s bullpen: “Decent.” The man is nothing if not consistent.
Per Murph, here’s the best-case timeline. All based on how Megill feels/recovers:
Tuesday: Bullpen
Friday: Live BP
Sunday vs Reds: GameAll very much in pencil.
— Adam McCalvy (@AdamMcCalvy) September 21, 2025
While all of this is great to see, that there is a plan in place for Megill’s return, this doesn’t help fantasy players in their pursuit of a championship.
Chris Bassitt – SP Toronto Blue Jays
ROSTER MOVES:

— Toronto Blue Jays (@BlueJays) September 20, 2025
With this move, the Blue Jays have an opening in their rotation, as they also moved Jose Berrios to the bullpen. Mason Fluharty was recalled, so he may be the benefactor.
Will Smith – C Los Angeles Dodgers
Will Smith went for more scans. He has a hairline fracture in his hand. “Doubtful” he’s back for regular season, Dave Roberts, and “up in the air” that he will be ready for the start of the postseason.
— Fabian Ardaya (@FabianArdaya) September 20, 2025
Fantasy players need to get Smith out of their lineups and look elsewhere. Dodgers backup Daulton Rushing isn’t getting the job done, so using him would be detrimental to your chances of winning a title.
Jeremy Pena – SS Houston Astros
On the team’s pregame radio show on @SportsTalk790, GM Dana Brown said Peña’s oblique soreness is “just a two-day thing. It’s really minor based on initial evaluation.” Still has to be seen by doctors and get imaging.
— Brian McTaggart (@brianmctaggart) September 21, 2025
This is a tricky injury situation, as obliques tend to linger and can be retriggered with any physical movement done too soon in the recovery process. This is also the Astros that we’re talking about, and their history of properly handling injuries is very concerning. With the team looking ahead to the playoffs while also competing for a spot, this has the makings of a very tricky situation. Fantasy players would be advised to have a backup plan.
Daylen Lile – OF Washington Nationals
Daylen Lile was walking around the clubhouse with only a slight limp. He said he's going to be fine, didn't need X-rays. Texted his mom to say thanks for forcing him to drink so much milk growing up.
— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) September 21, 2025
Lile has been a revelation for the better part of a month, and his injury would be a hard pill to swallow for fantasy baseball managers. That said, from the sound of things, he looks to be ready to play this upcoming week, specifically because no X-rays are scheduled. It’s important to stay up to date with how he feels on the day(s) after the injury, but if he’s fine, he’s worth rostering.
Xander Bogaerts – SS San Diego Padres
Rain in Arizona washed out Xander Bogaerts’ on-field work today.
He is expected to rejoin Padres on Monday for start of the final homestand.
