Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Friday, June 6, 2025. In today’s report, we learn that Francisco Lindor may not need a trip to the Injured List, but the same can’t be said about Matthew Liberatore. Also, the Padres get some encouraging news on Luis Arraez and Xander Bogaerts, while the Brewers get (relatively) good news on Brandon Woodruff. All of this and much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.
MLB Injury Report
Francisco Lindor – SS New York Mets
"As of right now, that's not on the table."

Lindor was hit by a pitch on Wednesday, but remained in the game. It turns out that his pinky toe is fractured, and while he missed Thursday’s game, the plan for him is to return sooner, rather than later. Whether or not that comes to fruition remains to be seen, but it’s good initial news that the team did not put him on the Injured List. It’s hard to imagine players playing with broken toes, yet here both Mookie Betts and (potentially) Francisco Lindor are.
San Diego Padres – Team Update
Luis Arraez (posterior knee soreness) and Xander Bogaerts (shoulder soreness) are day to day. Mike Shildt said Bogaerts wasn’t available to play today but could be in Milwaukee. Dylan Cease seems to be OK after taking a line drive off his right forearm.

Luis Arraez has a history of lower-body injuries, specifically surrounding the knees. While the team doesn’t seem worried, it is notable given his past. As for Xander Bogaerts, the news is unsurprising as he also has a history of shoulder issues, one of which caused surgery last season. This feels like something that will stick with him for a while, and he may just need another injection similar to what worked last season for him. Finally, Dylan Cease was hit in the forearm by a comebacker. While he stayed in the game, it’s worth monitoring how he feels in the coming days. Chances are it’s nothing serious, but it’s still noteworthy nonetheless.
Chicago Cubs – Team Update
Cubs injury updates:
-Shota Imanaga threw 39 pitches (2innings) in a live BP yesterday
-Porter Hodge threw a bullpen yesterday— Maddie Lee (@maddie_m_lee) June 5, 2025
Shota Imanaga has now thrown multiple bullpen sessions, but this was the first with live batters. This is a big step forward for him, as he attempts to rebuild his stamina after a hamstring injury. Given how he is already at 39 pitches, he might be in line for a rehab assignment soon. As for Porter Hodge, he is aiming to return in a couple of weeks from both an oblique and hip issue. It remains to be seen if he is ready for live batters, but Thursday’s work was a step in the right direction.
Luis Robert – OF Chicago White Sox
Will Venable said Luis Robert, Jr. will be back in the lineup tomorrow. He had a ball deflect off of his head during cage work, so he’s resting today as a precaution.
— Jared Wyllys (@jwyllys) June 5, 2025
It’s hard to believe that this is what the White Sox had in mind when they gave Robert time off for a mental break. Hopefully, all is well and he can return to the lineup as soon as possible and get his season on track.
Brandon Woodruff – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Brandon Woodruff has a right elbow contusion, Brewers announce, and he has been returned to the IL from his rehab assignment.
— Curt Hogg (@CyrtHogg) June 5, 2025
Considering what the outcome could have been, this was quite the ideal situation for Woodruff and the Brewers. He will now need some time to heal up his elbow, and depending on how long that takes, he’ll probably need at least one rehab appearance before finally making his 2025 debut for Milwaukee.
Jordan Westburg – 2B Baltimore Orioles
Jordan Westburg will play DH for Triple-A Norfolk today, Tony Mansolino said. The Orioles interim manager said they’re playing it day-to-day on Westburg to make sure he’s ready to return, but it shouldn’t be long
— Andy Kostka (@afkostka) June 5, 2025
Westburg has been out of action since April with a hamstring injury that was once deemed a day-to-day situation. His return has been a long, laborious one that has required extensive time away and setbacks. The good news is that he seems really close to coming back to Baltimore. The team needs his offense, so he will be welcomed back with open arms.
Giancarlo Stanton – OF New York Yankees

The article in question also states how Stanton has been working out with the club and taking live batting practice. If all of this is treu and he goes on (what should be a lengthy rehab assignment), it brings up the unique problem of finding a spot for him in the lineup. Untl that time, consider this good news.
Josh Naylor – 1B Arizona Diamondbacks
Josh Naylor has been removed from the game in the 6th inning for the #Dbacks. Ildemaro Vargas is hitting for him. The first baseman has been dealing with nagging injuries but has been fighting to stay in the lineup.
— Aaron Hughes (@AaronrHughes) June 5, 2025
The issues spoken about here are with his hand and shoulder, both of which have been lingering for a while. There weren’t many updates after the game, so the hope is that a day or two of rest will help him avoid the Injured List altogether.
Matthew Liberatore – SP St. Louis Cardinals
Matthew Liberatore was removed from tonight's game with "fatigue-related issues" per the #STLCards https://t.co/dPet4a6qfd
— Katie Woo (@katiejwoo) June 6, 2025
This was the second of two poor outings for Liberatore, whose velocity and spin rates were down signficiantly from their norms. These fatigue-related issues are concerning, as they could also signal an injury developing internally. It’s unclear what the Cardinals will do, whether it be send him for some testing or allow him time to rest, but the murkiness of this situation is less than ideal. Stay tuned.
