MLB Injury Report – The Return of Pablo?

Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Wednesday, August 27, 2025. In today’s edition, the Texas Rangers will be without their best pitcher for the remainder of the season. Also, the Giants might have a new closer for the final month, and Jackson Chourio will need just a little more time before he’s back. Read about all of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Nathan Eovaldi – SP Texas Rangers

Eovaldi got injured somewhere in between his masterpiece on Friday and this injury designation on Tuesday. It’s an unfortunate development for one of baseball’s best pitchers this year, though, with him, some injury is to be expected.

Pablo Lopez – SP Minnesota Twins

There were reports of his stuff being down last night, which is somewhat of a concern. Still, he ramped up to 68 pitches thrown, struck out five batters, and had an effective changeup. He will likely need at least one more rehab start before returning to the Twins.

Randy Rodriguez – RP San Francisco Giants

Ryan Walker will be the team’s closer until either he falters or Rodriguez returns to the lineup. It’s unclear if either of those situations will take place before the season’s end. Given how little time is left in the season, this might be the last we see of this year’s best breakout bullpen arm. Stay tuned.

Landon Roupp – SP San Francisco Giants

Roupp’s condition is confirmed to be a deep bone bruise, and as such, he will likely be out of action for the season. It’s telling how much the pain is and was that he believed he had torn his ACL.

Roki Sasaki – SP Los Angeles Dodgers

The good news here is that Sasaki’s velocity was up to the point of dominance, flashing 99 miles per hour upside on his fastball. The bad news is that he struggled getting outs and once again had a disappointing outing. It’s fair to wonder how he will be used upon his return to the Dodgers, as he might actually be more effective this season as a reliever down the stretch.

Jacob Lopez – SP Sacramento Athletics

As expected, Lopez was placed on the Injured List, and his period of inactivity will begin. Within a week or so, we should find out if he’s able to return this season, and in what capacity.

Luis Robert – OF Chicago White Sox

Robert was removed early last night and will be evaluated today to determine the severity of the situation. Given his injury history, it’s (almost) safe to say that he will not be in the lineup today, and could miss future games while he’s recovering. We should receive updates sometime today, so please stay tuned.

Jackson Chourio – OF Milwaukee Brewers

Good news here for fantasy players, as Chourio will likely return this weekend. The unfortunate part of the timing is that he may have been started in weekly leagues, and as such, he could be giving teams a zero for most of the week. That being said, if you’re able to live to play another day, then this is great news.

Joey Ortiz – 3B Milwaukee Brewers

Ortiz’s return soon would be a big boost to the Brewers’ lineup. It appears that he’s on his way back, which is great news.

Milwaukee Brewers – Team Update

A lot of updates here, with most of them being speculative. Of note, it doesn’t look like fantasy players will get much out of Logan Henderson, making him droppable in redraft leagues.

Houston Astros – Team Update

The biggest piece of news here is that Yordan Alvarez is NOT listed on this update. However, moving forward, some notes are that Josh Hader hasn’t started throwing, indicating that he is not close to a return. Also, yesterday was a big day for Jake Meyers, as a successful workout could go a long way for him to be cleared to start his rehab assignment.
