Top 20 Seattle Mariners Prospects for Dynasty Leagues

The Seattle Mariners have one of the most fun and talented pitching rotations in baseball right now. Unfortunately, the hitting is not quite as far along. Still, they have young building blocks like Julio Rodríguez, Logan Gilbert, and George Kirby to build around moving forward. They’ve bolstered their lineup this offseason, hoping to make the jump from finishing second in the AL West to finishing atop the division. There is a lot of potential help in the Mariners farm system. The Mariners’ top prospects include six players who make the top 100, including one in the top 20. There are a lot of potential impact infielders at the top. Overall, it’s a strong system that is oozing with upside, even if there is some risk. Let’s look a little deeper at the Seattle Mariners’ Top 20 prospects.

Top 20 Seattle Mariners Prospects for Dynasty Leagues

1. SS Colt Emerson, Age: 19

The 20th-ranked overall prospect in the Fantrax Top 600 update could be eyeing a top-10 spot or better very soon. As an 18-year-old he slashed .263/.393/.376 between Single-A and High-A while stealing 15 bases and hitting four home runs. He’s a very polished hitter who can get the bat to the ball. Emerson projects for more power, but it’s the hit tool that will carry him through. His success and skillset at such a young age make him a very exciting prospect moving forward.

2. 2B Michael Arroyo, Age: 20

Another young exciting hit tool-driven hitter at the top of the Mariners prospect rankings is Michael Arroyo. He should start the year in Double-A following a .290/.397/.519 slash line with 12 home runs and 10 stolen bases in nearly 300 High-A at-bats. His full season showed him hitting .285 with 23 home runs and 18 steals. Arroyo hits the ball very well and can get to just about anything with his barrel. He saw his over-the-fence power take a step forward last year. If he can keep lifting the ball then Arroyo is going to pay big dividends for fantasy baseball managers.

3. SS Felnin Celesten, Age: 19

The Mariners spent $4.7 million to sign Felnin Celesten during the 2023 International Free Agency Period. The switch-hitting shortstop hit .352 on the Complex with a 12.5-percent walk rate in his professional debut. He should be able to hit pretty well, but his power is what makes him an exciting prospect. It’s very much something to be projected at the moment, but he will have a chance to show his skills in Single-A during the coming season.

4. OF Jonny Farmelo, Age: 20

There was a lot of excitement around Jonny Farmelo before he tore his ACL last season. He was slashing .264/.398/.421 with four home runs and 18 steals in Single-A. His speed is very real and will play for stolen bases and he should be able to add power too. In dynasty leagues, he represents a high upside, potential buy low heading into the year. If he comes back well from the injury then his prospect status will shoot up. Farmelo is still considered a top-100 prospect by most pundits.

5. SS Cole Young, Age: 21

Seattle is rich with exciting infield prospects, and Cole Young is just as exciting as the players above him on this list. At 20 years old he slashed .271/.369/.390 with nine home runs and 23 stolen bases in Double-A. While he doesn’t project to have the same level of power, he is faster and could debut at some point late next season. Young has the leadoff skills that could add average, OBP, and steals to a fantasy baseball lineup.

6. OF Lazaro Montes, Age: 20

Lazaro Montes hit .288 with 21 home runs as a teenager between Single-A and High-A last season. He was dominant in the former, but in the latter he struck out 29.6 percent of the time. Still, he walked 15 percent at the level. There wasn’t a lack of success, but his strikeout rate at that level is something worth noting moving forward. At the end of the day, Montes hits the ball hard and that’s exciting. He’ll need to hit enough, especially with the chance he eventually winds up at first base long-term.

7. RHP Logan Evans, Age: 23

The first pitcher to appear on this list is Logan Evans, who spent all of the 2024 season at Double-A. In 107 innings with an 8.24 K/9 and a 3.20 ERA. He has a really nice breaking ball and can get up to 97 MPH with his fastball. Evans has a good floor as a rotation arm in the majors. That being said, Seattle’s rotation is pretty stacked and young. He should start 2025 in Triple-A where he’ll have a chance to prove he deserves a shot at some point in 2025.

8. C Harry Ford, Age: 21

It’s very rare to find a catcher with speed, but that is what Harry Ford represents. He is a plus runner who, at least for now, is sticking at catcher long-term. Ford is a former 12th overall pick whose prospect stock took a hit following a season where he hit .249 with seven home runs in Double-A. That was the lowest mark for any of his three full seasons as a professional. Still, he walks a lot and stole 35 bases. He’s a very interesting player, particularly if his power comes back. Ford could provide some power and a lot of stolen bases from a position where that usually wouldn’t happen.

9. SHP Jurrangelo Cijntje, Age: 21

The 15th pick in the draft immediately became one of the most unique prospects in baseball. A switch pitcher, Cijntje can throw with both hands. He can touch the upper-90’s from the right side and tops out at 94 MPH from the left side. There are usable secondaries on both sides, but most evaluators agree he’s better as a righty at present. Beyond switch pitching, he has plenty of potential to stick in a rotation long-term. He will debut professionally in 2024.

10. RHP Ryan Sloan, Age: 19

The Mariners’ second-round pick in the 2024 draft is a flamethrowing teenager named Ryan Sloan. He can already touch 99 MPH with a very good pitch mix. Despite being a second-rounder, he got a $3 million bonus, which is equivalent to a first-round pick. Prep pitchers are the riskiest group of players, but the skills can be very enticing. With the potential he has, Sloan is a great FYPD target.

11. OF Yorger Bautista, Age: 17

One of the better prospects in this year’s international class is Yorger Bautista, who the Mariners signed for $2.1 million. He has the potential to blossom into plus power and plus speed. The one thing Bautista has right now is loud tools. If he can continue to refine them he could be a very exciting prospect soon. Seattle has had good results recently from their international signings, adding to the excitement surrounding Bautista.

12. SS Tai Peete, Age: 19

Some players are difficult to rank for various reasons, and Tai Peete is one of those players. He has a lot of potential, but still has a long way to go to get there. At 18 years old he hit .269 with a 10 percent walk rate, seven home runs, and 45 stolen bases. However, he also struck out 30 percent of the time. Peete played well enough to start in High-A next season where he climbs closer to becoming a power/speed threat.

13. 1B Tyler Locklear, Age: 24

The Mariners are projected to have Luke Raley starting at first base next season, but Tyler Locklear is a player who could be in that mix as well. Locklear debuted last year, hitting .156 with a 40 percent strikeout rate in 16 games. Still, he was a .260 hitter with eight home runs who struck out a lot less during 318 Triple-A plate appearances. Seattle should give Locklear another chance in 2025. He has the makings of a contributor with some power and the ability to walk at a high clip but may struggle to stand out among the first base crowd for fantasy baseball managers.

14. LHP Brandyn Garcia, Age: 24

Since turning pro, Brandyn Garcia has done nothing but be successful. He’s coming off a season where he threw 116 innings between High-A and Double-A with a 2.25 ERA and a 27 percent strikeout rate. He has a mid-90s fastball with a good slider that can generate whiffs. Garcia should be in Triple-A sooner than later and could be a dark horse to debut for Seattle.

15. RHP Jeter Martinez, Age: 18

After a very successful season in the DSL following signing with Seattle during the 2023 IFA period last year, Jeter Martinez followed things up with a 3.86 and 11.12 K/9 in 39.2 innings on the Complex. That is also coupled with a 7.03 BB/9. The walks are a big question, but there is a lot to like from Martinez, who is just a tick shy of topping out in triple digits with his fastball. He’ll have to throw more strikes, but he is a high-risk prospect who has a very lofty ceiling.

16. RHP Ashton Izzi, Age: 21

Ashton Izzi has three pitches that look promising, starting with a fastball that tops out in the mid-90s. He also throws a good changeup and nasty slider. Despite having good stuff, that didn’t translate to strikeouts, landing him at 7.73 K/9 in Single-A last season. His command will need to improve, but as Izzi refines his ability to pitch he could make a big jump and become a breakout pitching candidate.

17. 2B Ryan Bliss, Age: 25

For the second straight year, Ryan Bliss ended the season with 55 stolen bases across all levels. Five of those steals came during his 33-game MLB debut where he hit .222 and added a pair of home runs. Bliss was a .269 hitter with 12 home runs and 50 stolen bases in Triple-A. His speed is certainly an asset to fantasy baseball lineups, but he will have to hit enough. There is a chance Bliss could win a starting job out of Spring Training.

18. 3B Ben Williamson, Age: 24

In his first full professional season after being the Mariners 2nd rounder last year, Ben Williamson reached Double-A, where he slashed .272/.365/.374 with three home runs and 15 stolen bases. He also walked just shy of 11 percent of the time. Williamson is a hit-over-power corner infielder who will provide OBP help. He spent the bulk of last season in Double-A, so he should see the next level at some point in 2025.

19. RHP Teddy McGraw, Age: 23

In his debut season after being a third-round pick a year ago, Teddy McGraw threw just 8.2 innings before an elbow injury shut him down. This came after surgery in his draft year as well. There are durability concerns, but McGraw can also touch the upper90s with two potentially above-average pitches. He’ll need to be healthy, but McGraw has the pure stuff to be dangerous.

20. RHP Michael Morales, Age: 22

Despite a low-90 fastball, Michael Morales was able to post a 9.28 K/9 in 65 Double-A innings last season. That was a step forward from where he was at prior to the promotion. While Morales does have solid secondaries to offer, it’s his command that really allows him to find success. However, that could mean he’s a better real-life pitcher. Morales has a floor at the back of a rotation, and could maybe climb higher if he keeps generating whiffs.
