Get ready, National League Central Division fans and enthusiasts alike! Week 12 of the 2025 Major League Baseball is here, and this one is for you! There are only four MLB teams that will play seven games during the coming week. All four reside in the NL Central. The lone team with a day off this week is the Cincinnati Reds. That off day could prove fortuitous, as it will likely mean they avoid Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal. That should give their Week 12 matchup rating a slight boost, although their park factor rating will take a hit since they will play all six games away from home. Let’s see what the numbers suggest is in store for all 30 teams with the Week 12 Hitting Planner.
Week 12 Schedule Notes
Week 12 is a run-of-the-mill week when it comes to both the number of games played and home/road splits. As mentioned earlier, all but four teams have a day off this week. There is an almost even split between teams who are off on Monday (12) and Thursday (14). Eight teams are at home all week, eight are on the road, and 14 have split weeks. There are no day games for fantasy managers to worry about on Monday when setting weekly lineups. However, the Chicago Cubs will host the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field on Friday afternoon. That is important for managers who can set their lineup twice per week.
Starting Pitching Matchup Notes
There are a handful of teams who are not scheduled to face any left-handed pitchers in Week 12. Among them are Arizona, Tampa Bay, and Texas. Arizona usually platoons Pavin Smith and Randal Grichuk at their DH spot. Grichuk has been swinging a hot bat of late, but will likely struggle to earn playing time in Week 12. Josh Lowe in Tampa and Josh Smith in Texas have been leading off against righties, so they should be a solid source of runs and other counting categories this week. The Atlanta Braves also should square off exclusively against right-handed starting pitchers this week. But they face the Colorado Rockies to close out the week, so all their hitters are in play regardless of handedness.
As many as eight teams could face three left-handed starters, which is a lot considering the lack of seven-game weeks on the schedule. Teams that fall into this category include the Cleveland Indians, Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees, and Toronto. The Guardians recently activated utility man David Fry from the Injured List. Fry was a godsend for many fantasy managers last year and makes for an interesting spec play this week. Los Angeles features an almost exclusively right-handed lineup, so they could continue to be a sneaky source of fantasy production. In New York, Trent Grisham has struggled recently after a torrid start. Those struggles may continue in Week 12. Addison Barger has been one of the hottest hitters in the league over the past couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see if he can keep it up, as Toronto is scheduled to face three left-handed pitchers.
Ballpark Effects Notes
The San Francisco Giants take their talents to Coors Field to begin the week. All their primary hitters should stay in your starting lineups in Week 12. Primarily because of those games, Colorado has a favorable draw from a ballpark perspective. However, they are slated to face Robbie Ray, Logan Webb, Spencer Strider, and Chris Sale this week. Good luck with that. Ballpark effects can usually only do so much. Baltimore is home all week and has mostly favorable matchups. Arizona and Philadelphia are in a similar position this week. Cincinnati and the Athletics are among the eight teams that are on the road all week. Both teams have favorable hitting conditions at their home locales, so their hitters may see a slight dip in production this week.
