Week 12 Quarterback Rankings for Fantasy Football (Sunday Update!)

Bye weeks are almost over. But we have to endure two final mega-byes in the meantime: Six teams are off this week, with another six teams on bye in Week 14. That means crunched rosters and possible streaming options at the position. But don’t sweat it. The Week 12 quarterback rankings will highlight advantageous matchups that will put you in the best position to succeed in the week’s barren fantasy football landscape.

Quarterbacks on Byes in Week 12

Kirk Cousins, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Trevor Lawrence, Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers

Injury Notes for Week 12

  • Brock Purdy is day-to-day with shoulder soreness but should still be able to suit up for his Week 12 matchup against Green Bay. UPDATE: Despite positive results from an MRI on Friday, Purdy is OUT for Week 12. Brandon Allen gets the start in the interim and is a downgrade for all San Francisco receivers.

Quarterback Notes

Bye Weeks: ATL, BUF, CIN, JAX, NO, NYJ

  • Justin Herbert has ranked as a top-eight quarterback for two consecutive weeks. He’s been unstoppable, scoring at least 19.5 fantasy points in the last four weeks while ranking as QB5 in fantasy. Up next is a juicy Week 12 matchup against Baltimore. Opposing quarterbacks are averaging 23.1 fantasy points against the Ravens this season. The defense has been notably shaky against the pass, ceding the most passing yards and the second-most passing touchdowns to the position. Week 12 will be a battle between the Harbaugh brothers, and both teams should come out swinging. Herbert is QB4 in the Week 12 quarterback rankings and should be started with confidence.
  • Bo Nix is coming off one of his best games this year, hanging a season-high 307 yards and four passing touchdowns on the Falcons. The rookie is one of the biggest risers in the rankings this year and is QB7 in fantasy points scored. Nix is set up for another productive week against the Raiders, who have allowed the ninth-most fantasy points to the position for the year. The unit has been especially vulnerable in the past three weeks. They’ve surrendered at least 250 passing yards and a total of 10 touchdowns in that stretch, with quarterbacks averaging 23.6 fantasy points. Nix last faced the Raiders in Week 5 and finished with 23.1 fantasy points on the day. I expect another big finish this week, as Nix is QB5  in the Week 12 quarterback rankings.
  • I touted Russell Wilson last week, which came back to bite me. He put up his worst fantasy performance of the season, failing to score a touchdown and finishing with a measly 6.3 fantasy points. Yuck. However, I’m back in on the veteran signal caller in Week 12. He faces a Browns defense that has given up the sixth-most fantasy points to the position (21.5). They’ve also allowed opposing quarterbacks to throw multiple touchdowns for the last five weeks. Four of those quarterbacks threw for 245-plus yards. Wilson and the Steelers are coming off a big divisional upset and should continue rolling this week. Wilson is a back-end QB1 in the Week 12 quarterback rankings.
  • Tommy DeVito is the next man up for the Giants and has one of the best matchups on the Week 12 slate. He faces a Buccaneers team that has given up the most fantasy points to quarterbacks on the year (24.7). They’ve also ceded the fourth-most passing yards and sixth-most rushing yards to the position. DeVito is sneaky good on the ground and should be able to take advantage. He averaged 28.1 rushing yards per game in 6.5 starts last season (DeVito was pulled at halftime in his final start of 2023). He also threw eight touchdowns and three interceptions in that span. There’s risk with DeVito, but he could breathe some needed life into the Giants against a soft Bucs team. Tommy Cutlets is a nice bye-week replacement with upside in two-quarterback leagues.
