The Week 2 EPL waiver wire has lots of options still to choose from, along with the knowledge gained from week one of the season.
It was a solid opening week for suggestions. Matt O’Riley scored a penalty and was one of BHA’s best players on the day. O’Riley on PKs would be a nice bonus for managers who picked him up. He’s still under 50% rostered across leagues. Kieran Trippier had a solid week, including a clean sheet, showing signs that he may not be quite done yet. Pape Sarr did his usual strong defensive work, but also added an assist for a quality points output. Benjamin Sesko made his Man United debut coming on late in 1-0 loss to Arsenal.
We learned a lot in week one, including that newly promoted teams have come ready to play. Liverpool, Spurs, and Manchester City all poured in goals. Nine teams were shut out, and so we’ll have to see what changes will be made to those sides.
Seasons aren’t won or lost in week one. Get ready for week 2.
Week 2 Fantasy Draft EPL Waiver Wire
Josh Cullen – Midfielder – Rostered 19% – Burnley vs Sunderland
Burnley had a rude welcome back to the EPL as Spurs, with some great finishing, toppled them 3-0. Cullen, however, was a fantasy bright spot. He had five key passes. He also grabbed points for stats defensively. If he can remain consistent, he may be a good addition to rosters when matchups are in their favor. Burnley now faces Sunderland, who won 3-0 in their opener, but certainly aren’t Spurs.
David Brooks – Midfielder – Rostered 19% – Bournemouth vs Wolves
Brooks and Bournemouth had their moments against defending champions Liverpool, even though the game got away from them in a 4-2 loss. Brooks was heavily involved, including an assist on one of the Antoine Semenyo goals. With Semenyo as a target, Brooks will have a scorer to feed. The midfielder was involved in set pieces and corners. They host Wolves, who are a much better matchup, making him more attractive on this week’s EPL waiver wire.
Anton Stach – Midfielder – Rostered 10% – Arsenal vs Leeds
While traveling to Arsenal isn’t a good matchup, Stach showed real promise for being a player you may want to add for the season. Stach was clearly the main focus on the offense for Leeds. He was on the majority of set-pieces, including taking six corners. He also had four shots, with one on target. There’s a big potential upside here, so even if he doesn’t do well against a tough Arsenal defense, he’s worth holding onto for a few games to see how he does moving forward.
Josh Acheampong – Defender – Rostered 6% – West Ham vs Chelsea
Acheampong got the start for the opener, as Chelsea is dealing with center-back injuries. He took advantage of that time, as he was part of keeping a clean sheet and earning good points. He racked up defensive points and had a shot as well. He’s only 19, so he’ll be looking to make his mark. As long as he starts, he’s worth picking up on the EPL waiver wire. Chelsea play at West Ham, who lost 3-0 to newly promoted Sunderland.
Good luck!
