The Week 25 EPL waiver wire sees teams bringing in new players during the mid-season transfer window. There will be an extra option available for Fantrax managers this week.
Aston Villa and Liverpool also play twice.
Julio Enciso got the start and played 88 minutes for Ipswich with a solid performance. Idrissa Gueye and Jake O’Brien scored double digits over their two games, but Jesper Lindstrøm seriously disappointed. Everton players performed well in the two games.
As with any new player on a team, incoming transfer players may take time to find their way into lineups consistently. I do think some of these players have big upsides, but many made these moves because they weren’t producing or finding their form. Weigh that risk and reward.
Week 25 Fantasy Draft EPL Waiver Wire
Week 25 suggestions (under 50% rostered) are listed in order from most to least rostered.
James Ward-Prowse – Midfielder – 30% Rostered – West Ham vs Brentford
JWP is back at West Ham, where he scored seven goals and seven assists last season. His loan to Nottingham Forest wasn’t successful, as Forest found a way forward without him in the lineup. JWP, when playing consistently, can be a consistent and quality Fantrax fantasy player. Managers could see him on set pieces and corners, and if that’s the case, he will become a week-in and week-out fantasy player.
Ben Chilwell – Defender – 25% Rostered – Crystal Palace vs Everton
A few years back Chilwell was a top fantasy defender for Chelsea. But it has been a few years. For Palace, this move has a potential upside, as Chilwell could provide additional attacking and defending options down the wing. There’s nothing sure about this, especially from day one. Chilwell has played just a single game (a cup game) for Chelsea all season long. It may take some time to get him back and ready for a full role. If you’ve got a roster spot to hold on, he’s an interesting EPL waiver wire pick.
Evan Ferguson – Forward – 18% Rostered – West Ham vs Brentford
Evan moved from Brighton West Ham on a season-long loan. West Ham has really struggled with injuries, and Ferguson has been brought in to help with this. There’s a strong chance that he will move immediately into the lineup. He started just two games for BHA scoring only a single goal. Ferguson scored six goals in each of the previous two years. He will want to make the most of this chance.
Marco Asensio  – Forward – 1% Rostered – Aston Villa vs Ipswich, Aston Villa vs Liverpool
Mathys Tel – Forward – 1% Rostered – Tottenham vs Manchester United
Tel joined Spurs from Bayern Munich where he appeared 60 times scoring 12 goals. He lost favor though at Bayern, where he started only twice. In his first appearance for Spurs over the weekend in their FA game, he scored his first goal. The Spurs have fewer and fewer options at the forward position, as injuries continue to mount. This makes it more likely that Tel moves straight into the lineup and a good choice on the EPL waiver wire. Spurs host United then travel to Ipswich, giving him two solid matchups to start this time in the EPL.
Nico González – Midfielder – 1% Rostered – Manchester City vs Newcastle
Nice is not Rodri, but he is being brought to add cover for the loss of Rodri. City was dismantled by Arsenal after they had a strong stretch of play. They found themselves just outside the top four and collapsed in the final minutes against Real Madrid in the Champions League. He’s more of a defensive midfielder, so EPL Fantrax managers will have to wait and see what sort of points he can pick up.
Watch for lineup news. Be patient with some of these players, but not TOO patient either. Go with your gut, the stats, and the matchups.
Have fun. Good luck!
