Week 3 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Sleepers and Streamers

Two weeks in, and it’s starting to feel like one of those fantasy football seasons. Jaxon Smith-Njigba showed why he should be the number one wide receiver in the league, while the older guys, Stefon Diggs and Davante Adams, are showing they still have a ton of gas in the tank. Week 3 is a time when you need to start winning, so if you are unsure who to start at wide receiver, then this week’s sleepers and streamer picks will save your season.

Week 3 Wide Receiver Sleepers

Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers (vs. Atlanta Falcons)

Jayden Reed suffered a scary back injury that left him carted off the field attached to a backboard. The Packers have a short turnaround game this Thursday, which means Reed should be out this week. This leaves room for Matthew Golden to pop off. Golden has 18 targets in both games this season and has turned that into 10 catches for 153 yards. He is only missing his touchdown upside. Falcons’ starting cornerback, A.J. Terrell Jr., also left last week’s game with a groin injury. He could miss this week, which would open up the passing game for the Packers.

Xavier Worthy, Kansas City Chiefs (at Miami Dolphins)

Xavier Worthy is one of those boom-or-bust types of fantasy players. But this is the week he is a boom player. The Dolphins’ defense has gotten torched in back-to-back games, and this will likely be the same. I expect Patrick Mahomes II to move the ball around this week and Worthy to snag a sneaky garbage-time touchdown.

DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers (vs. Cincinnati Bengals)

The Steelers have looked terrible on offense, but the bright spot is DK Metcalf’s 19 targets. Roman Wilson is right behind him with 12 targets, but it is easy to see Aaron Rodgers is looking for Metcalf. There is also a chance Michael Pittman Jr. misses Week 3 with a foot injury. The Steelers don’t have the easiest matchup this week as the Bengals just shut down the Texans, but the secondary still gave up 353 passing yards, just no touchdowns. I expect Metcalf to wake up this week with some huge plays down the field.

Week 3 Wide Receiver Streamers

Denzel Boston, Cleveland Browns (vs. Carolina Panthers)

Denzel Boston has been creeping up the depth chart, and it is official: he is the real deal. I would immediately pick him up off waivers this week. He has back-to-back touchdowns and also has a combined 154 yards in his two games this year. He is tied with KC Concepcion in targets, but Boston has been the one producing the big plays. The Browns look 10 times better than they did in Week 1 and could have another fun fantasy performance against the Panthers.

Adonai Mitchell, New York Jets (at Detroit Lions)

Adonai Mitchell is someone to keep your eye on. Garrett Wilson is easily the most talented receiver on the Jets roster, but Mitchell is making a case for a week-to-week streamer option. Mitchell led the team with 12 targets last week and brought in six of them for 63 yards. Those numbers aren’t too impressive, but we can see the connection Geno Smith is having with Mitchell. This is also a great matchup for a shootout. The Lions have been in two high-scoring games this year where Tyler Shough threw for 410 yards, and Josh Allen threw for 248.

Tre Tucker, Las Vegas Raiders (at New Orleans Saints)

This is another risky option, but I love Tre Tucker while the Raiders are rolling. Kirk Cousins has brought some life to this Raiders offense. Brock Bowers is “very close” to playing this week, but even if Bowers plays, that actually could open up the field for Tucker. The Saints are another team that has been in high-scoring games that have come down to the final seconds. This looks like an even matchup, and I expect Cousins to sling the ball out and Tucker to come down with a touchdown this week.
