Kirk Cousins, Joe Burrow, and Lamar Jackson raked last week. They tallied at least 345 passing yards and four touchdowns apiece and scored 33+ fantasy points. On the flip side, Deshaun Watson looks awful, and quarterback changes could be coming in Las Vegas and New England. What does all that mean for this week? Let’s take a look at the Week 6 quarterback rankings to find out.
Quarterbacks on Byes in Week 6
Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Tyler Huntley, Sam Darnold
Injury Notes for Week 6
- Anthony Richardson missed last week with an oblique injury. His Week 6 status is up in the air. Veteran Joe Flacco has been more than solid in the interim and would get the starting nod again if Richardson is a no-go.
- Derek Carr will miss multiple games with an oblique injury. Jake Haener or Spencer Rattler will take over under center in the meantime. Both are downgrades for the Saints’ offense and should only be considered in Superflex leagues.
- Will Levis suffered a sprain in his shoulder in Week 4 and is questionable for this week. If he’s unable to suit up, Mason Rudolph will get the start under center in Week 6.
Quarterback Notes
Bye Weeks: KC, LAR, MIA, MIN
- Caleb Williams is coming off his best game of the season, completing 20-of-29 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns. He also added 34 yards on the ground. Williams has thrown for over 300 yards with a pair of touchdowns in two of his last three games and hasn’t thrown an interception in back-to-back weeks. Another productive week should be on tap for the rookie. Williams gets a tasty Week 6 matchup against a Jacksonville defense allowing the most fantasy points and second-most receiving yards to the position. In fact, every opposing quarterback this season — including Joe Flacco and Deshaun Watson — had QB1 finishes against the Jaguars. I’m high on Williams this week, ranking him as QB9 in my Week 6 quarterback rankings.
- Kirk Cousins is fresh off a phenomenal week. He finished as the overall QB1 in fantasy, throwing for a franchise-record 509 yards and four touchdowns. While another stat line like that isn’t coming anytime soon, Cousins can still put up solid numbers in favorable matchups. Week 6 should be one of those weeks. Cousins faces a Carolina defense that has surrendered the sixth-most fantasy points and ninth-most passing yards to opposing quarterbacks this season. They’ve also allowed 11 passing touchdowns, tied for the most through five weeks. Cousins is QB12 in the Week 6 quarterback rankings.
- Daniel Jones could surprise this week. He faces a Cincinnati team that has given up the fifth-most fantasy points to the position. The defense has also allowed 10 passing touchdowns and 164 rushing yards to opposing quarterbacks — both ranked second-most this season. Jones should be able to take advantage. He’s quietly put up QB1 finishes in three of the last four weeks. In each of those starts, Jones threw two touchdowns with zero interceptions and averaged 30 rushing yards per game. Jones ranks just outside the top-12 in the Week 6 quarterback rankings and is a top streamer this week.
- Baker Mayfield has been rolling this season. His 21.9 fantasy points per game rank as third-best at the position, and he leads the league with a total of 13 touchdowns. However, he takes a dip in the Week 6 quarterback rankings. Mayfield has a stingy matchup against a New Orleans defense allowing the sixth-fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. Additionally, the unit has been lights-out in limiting scores through the air. They’ve ceded only one passing touchdown through five weeks, and their seven interceptions on the year rank as third-most. Mayfield is a top-tier QB2 in the rankings this week.
