2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up Series #138 Jackson Ferris

We’re 131 days away from Opening Day, and the countdown moves forward with another installment of my 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series. Coming in at #138 is Jackson Ferris, a left-hander in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization who continues to tease mid-rotation upside thanks to his athletic delivery, natural deception, and a fastball-curveball foundation that misses bats at every stop.

After settling in during his first full year with the Dodgers following the 2024 trade from Chicago, Ferris enters 2026 looking like a poised breakout candidate if the strikes take another small step forward.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #138 Jackson Ferris

The Dodgers didn’t trade for Jackson Ferris to play it safe. They targeted an athletic lefty with real bat-missing traits and trusted their development machine to round off the edges. At 21 years old in Double-A, Ferris looks the part: the fastball plays up in the zone, the breakers are real weapons, and the results hint at a mid-rotation ceiling if the strike-throwing catches up.

Ferris’ operation is loose and athletic with the kind of late burst you like to see from a lefty. The fastball gets on hitters at the letters, setting up two distinct breaking looks that miss bats on shape alone, the curveball has teeth, and the slider complements it with sweep. The changeup flashes average and gives him a path to neutralize righties if he can land it more consistently. It’s very much a Dodgers toolkit: ride up, spin down, and tunnel the lanes until hitters run out of guesses.

The data backs up the eye test. Across 126 Double-A innings, Ferris ran a 3.86 ERA and 4.02 FIP with a 9.64 K/9 and an 11.0% swinging-strike rate. He kept the ball in the yard (0.64 HR/9) and on the ground (48.2% GB), which is a stabilizing combo for a young arm learning to sequence. Against league context, he was better than average in ERA, strikeouts, and both FIP and xFIP. The red ink is where you’d expect it for a 21-year-old in AA: a 1.46 WHIP and 4.71 BB/9 with a 2.0 K/BB. That’s too many free baserunners, even if the environment is walk-heavy. The positive spin? Ferris held firm despite the traffic, and the contact he did allow generally came on the ground and without loud damage.

Projection here hinges on strike-throwing. The delivery is athletic enough to believe the command gets to fringe-average, and the pitch shapes are already good enough to turn fringe command into above-average outcomes. The Dodgers have a track record of smoothing timing, refining release consistency, and leveraging shapes in smarter lanes. Add in the workload step to 126 innings, and you have a pitcher moving from thrower to starter. If the walk rate trims even modestly, the whole profile jumps a tier.

Fantasy Outlook

In Dynasty, this is the exact profile to bet on before the ratios fully click. The swing-and-miss foundation is real, the HR suppression plays anywhere, and the organization is an arrow-up multiplier.

Expect some WHIP volatility until the walk rate comes down, which makes him a touch riskier in 5×5 Roto right now and a bit more volatile in Points formats that penalize walks. But if he nudges the BB/9 into the mid-3s, you’re looking at a strikeout-per-inning lefty with mid-rotation outcomes and a friendly home context when he arrives.

With a realistic ETA of 2027, Ferris is a strong hold-and-stash in deeper Dynasty and a watchlist arm in 12-teamers, one command bump away from being one of the more valuable pitching prospects in the minors.
