We’re 67 days from Opening Day, and the 2026 Dynasty Baseball Prospects: Daily Write-Up series highlights a polished college bat climbing the ladder. Coming in at #91 is Kaelen Culpepper, a shortstop whose offensive approach and feel for contact have translated quickly to Double-A. Culpepper’s game is built more on hitting ability than loud tools, but that foundation gives him a relatively high fantasy floor. As the countdown continues, he profiles as a steady dynasty option with a clear path to opportunity.

Daily Baseball Write-Up Series #91 Kaelen Culpepper
The Twins had developed a recent reputation for producing polished, big-league-ready bats, and Kaelen Culpepper looked like the next steady climber in that pipeline. At 22 and holding his own in Double-A, he was not sprinting past every checkpoint so much as methodically checking each box along the way. That kind of progression mattered in dynasty formats, because it steadily converted “could” into “should.”
Culpepper’s season at Double-A told a clear story of a well-rounded hitter with growing thump and real wheels. Across 517 plate appearances, he hit .289 with a .375 OBP and an .844 OPS, good for a 138 wRC+, roughly 38 percent better than league average. The strike-zone control stood out quietly but convincingly. An 11.0% swinging-strike rate paired with about a 17% strikeout rate and roughly a 10% walk rate formed the type of foundation that typically scaled to tougher pitching. Add in 20 home runs and 25 stolen bases, and the profile checked nearly every fantasy box you want to see inside the top 100 of dynasty rankings.

The underlying data explained both the production and the path forward. Culpepper’s batted-ball mix leaned heavily toward pull contact at 48.6%, paired with a 50.0% ground-ball rate, 29.6% fly balls, and a 20.4% line-drive rate. That combination, along with a .181 ISO, showed there was already enough impact to punish mistakes while hinting at untapped game power if he could trade some of those pulled ground balls for loft. The swing did not require an overhaul. A modest tweak to the attack angle looked like it could unlock a 25-plus homer ceiling at peak. The athleticism showed up everywhere, from his lateral quickness on the left side of the infield to the 25 bags he swiped, and that speed projected to continue translating as long as the on-base skills held.
The red flags were limited and mostly developmental in nature. The ground-ball-heavy profile could cap the home run output and apply some batting-average pressure as he faced more advanced spin at Triple-A, so a trim from .289 toward the .270 range would not have been surprising without a loft adjustment. Still, the approach was sturdy, the contact quality played to the pull side, and the Twins’ development group had a track record of tightening swing decisions and optimizing contact profiles. With Royce Lewis, Carlos Correa, Brooks Lee, and Jose Miranda occupying spots in Minnesota, the path to everyday at-bats likely required some patience, but Culpepper’s glove and athleticism on the left side helped widen his margin for error.
Fantasy Outlook
Culpepper profiled as a high-floor dynasty asset capable of contributing across categories rather than leaning on one loud tool. A mature outcome in the .265 to .275 range with double-digit OBP gains, 15 to 20 home runs, and 15 to 20 stolen bases felt well within reach, with upside for more power if the launch-angle trend moved north. In roto formats, that looked like a glue-guy starter with sneaky ceiling. In points leagues, the lower strikeout rate and walk base played even better than the raw counting stats suggested. A safe ETA sat in 2027, though a strong showing at Triple-A could have opened the door late in 2026. If buying, the window came before the elevation adjustment showed up in the box score. Once the ground-ball rate dropped, this had the look of a Top-75 dynasty profile in a hurry.
