I am doing a series where I offer up three fantasy baseball thoughts for every MLB team. I’ll take a look at under-the-radar stats, playing time projections, projected roles, and off-season news to try and highlight the nuggets that might help you in your 2025 fantasy baseball drafts. We’ll do this thing in alphabetical order, and next up are three thoughts for the 2025 Colorado Rockies.

What?! Your fantasy baseball league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season? Preposterous! Check out what the Fantrax MLB Commissioner has to offer and we think you’ll be singing a different tune for the 2025 MLB season.

3 Fantasy Baseball Thoughts for the 2025 Colorado Rockies

Michael Toglia Has Some Real Power

Do we really care if Michael Toglia strikes out 32.1% of the time? What about if he hits just .218? Well, each question is rhetorical, the batting average matters more than the strikeouts. As long as Toglia makes enough contact to put his prodigious power to use, we are good. The fact that Toglia had an 11.8% walk rate last year helps counteract the batting average struggles if you are in an OBP league.

In 116 games last year, Toglia went deep 25 times while driving in 55 runs and scoring 62 times. As an added bonus, he also threw in 10 stolen bases.

Toglia’s .238 ISO showed he can be a real threat. While Toglia hit better in Coors Field (.235) than on the road (.202) his power output didn’t follow the same theme. In 59 road games, Toglia had 17 home runs and 33 RBI compared to eight and 22 in 56 home games.

The strikeouts will continue to be a concern for Toglia, along with the batting average, but it’s not like Colorado has many better options. But if you believe Toglia’s .250 xBA, then there really is no need for concern. He has a similar gap between his .456 SLG and .521 xSLG which helps generate optimism for 2025.

Toglia had a 50% hard-hit rate along with a 17.2% barrel rate and he certainly caught our attention heading into 2025.

Don’t Forget About Thairo Estrada

Based on his early ADP of 598 that has certainly been the case for Thairo Estrada. However now that he has signed with the Rockies on the heels of a rough season with the Giants, that no longer will be the case.

Estrada is only one year away from hitting 14 home runs while stealing 23 bases in 120 games for San Francisco. He also had a .271 batting average that year which dropped to .217 in 2024. He only stole two bases in 96 games last year and his .228 xBA didn’t make things look much better. In 2025 though, not only will Estrada get a chance to bounce back, but he’ll also get the chance to do so in Coors Field.

He did hit nine home runs last year and drove in 47 runs which actually lines up with the 49 RBI he had a year prior. In fairness, Estrada wasn’t healthy last year and that is the contributing factor for a lot of what went wrong. We likely can especially apply that to his stolen base issues and look for a rebound in 2025. As you fill out the back end of your roster, I’m here for a resurgence.

Grab a Road German Marquez

German Marquez made it back from Tommy John surgery only to succumb to a stress fracture in his elbow after just four innings. That has seemingly healed and Marguez finds himself back atop the Colorado rotation.

Before going any further, we can’t forget that he is a Colorado pitcher whose home games are played in Coors Field. It’s there were Marquez has a career 5.03 ERA, however, that mark drops to 3.83 on the road. When you are looking at taking Marquez in the last few rounds of a 50-round draft, even if you get 10 to 15 starts from him in your lineup, it’s hard to go wrong with that ERA. While the strikeouts have come down slightly over the last few years, Marquez should come close to striking out around eight batters per nine innings.

This all works from a streaming perspective.
