Need a little extra boost this weekend to win your matchup? Look no further than the weekend pitching streamers! Each weekend there are lower-rostered pitchers who could help your squad finish the week with a dub. I will give you players that are rostered in less than 50% of CBS leagues that have advantageous matchups. Not all of these guys are desirable options though, so I will also include a streamer confidence rating between 1-10. Good luck, and happy weekend streaming!
Top Weekend Pitching Streamers: 5/27-5/29
Friday:
Jon Gray @ Oakland A’s (48% Rostered)
Confidence Rating: 8
Jon Gray is due for a dominant outing. He had a solid start last time out against the Astros, only allowing 2 ER over 6 innings. Besides that quality start, he has not pitched well to begin the season. Which makes this the perfect time to face the A’s. Oakland ranks 29th in both ISO and wRC+ against RHP. They also strike out against RHP 24.5% of the time. Gray will be a solid streamer this weekend against a bad team in a good pitcher’s park.
Austin Gomber @ Washington Nationals (33% Rostered)
Confidence Rating: 4
Gomber hasn’t been much different on the road vs. at home in Coors Field. But, he will be taking on a Nationals team that struggles against lefties. The Nationals are dead last in ISO against LHP and are .021 points behind the Tigers, who rank 29th. While they rank in the top 10 for hits and BA as a team against LHP, they just aren’t able to come up with many XBH to drive guys in. Gomber has been serviceable against bad teams this season, so I would feel confident putting him in my rotation if I needed a weekend streamer.
Saturday:
Ryan Pepiot @ Arizona Diamondbacks (10% Rostered)
Confidence Rating: 5
Saturday didn’t offer many good pitching streamers, but Pepiot is for sure an interesting one. Pepiot hasn’t been recalled yet, but he is listed as the probable starter on Saturday. He has high strikeout potential, but walks have been hampering his effectiveness. Pepiot is a high-risk, high-reward option here, which makes him my swing for the fences streamer of the weekend. Arizona strikes out a fourth of the time against RHP, and Chase Field is a good pitcher’s park. If Pepiot can keep the walks down and limit the damage, he could give you some high strikeout numbers and a W.
Brady Singer @ Minnesota Twins (30% Rostered)
Confidence Rating: 4
After allowing 4 ER in his first appearance against Cleveland, Singer has not allowed an ER in 16.2 IP, including 2 starts of 7 innings. A second straight start against the Twins, and at Target Field, makes me a little nervous. But, Singer offers a quality option among other streamers on Saturday. I trust him a little more than Pepiot, although he does not have as high of an upside. If you need someone who can put up innings this weekend, Singer is a decent option.
Sunday:
Roansy Contreras @ San Diego Padres (35% Rostered)
Confidence Rating: 5
This will be Contreras’ first big test of the season. He was just recalled and looked good against the Rockies at home. The Padres rank in the bottom third of the league in both ISO and wRC+ against RHP, but pitching at Petco isn’t ideal. He should provide more strikeouts than you could find in a different streamer, and has better long-term potential. This will be his second start, so expectations should be tempered. But now that he’s stretched out as a starter, Contreras will be an intriguing streaming option moving forward.
Dane Dunning @ Oakland A’s (35% Rostered)
Confidence Rating: 6
It almost gets too redundant to keep streaming against the A’s. But Dunning gets the nod here. He hasn’t really had a favorable matchup all season, so facing Oakland should be a breath of fresh air. As mentioned above in the Jon Gray section, Oakland is not good against RHP, and Dunning has been good against better teams. He pitches deep into games and has good strikeout and walk rates. When you pitch against Oakland, you’re already in the streamer consideration. Dunning is a slightly above-average option against Oakland as a weekend streamer.
