I hope that everyone continues to be profitable playing NFL DFS even if the math says that’s impossible. Regardless, last week is in the past and we have a new week of action in front of us. I intend to help you make Week 16 of NFL DFS a week to remember as you finish in the green. With that being said, let us jump right into my top Week 16 DFS picks.
Each week, I will take a look at one option at each position that can be a nice piece in your lineup. Additionally, I will provide one stud and one value option to target along with one expected bust.
NFL Week 16 DFS Picks
Quarterback
Joe Flacco, Cleveland Browns, $5,500
After going through three quarterbacks, the Cleveland Browns brought Joe Flacco in off the street. Three games in, from a performance perspective, it is going better than perhaps anyone would have expected.
After losing his debut, Flacco has won his next two starts. It is also notable that the veteran has played a legitimate role in both games as he passed for 311 and 374 yards, respectively. Flacco has seven touchdown passes in the three games and has at least two in each. Cleveland has clearly committed to the passing game and Flacco, and that means giving him every opportunity to tally up the DraftKings points. This week, that is certainly a good thing as it is a good matchup against the Houston Texans.
Running Back
Breece Hall, New York Jets $6,100
Things were not good for the New York Jets last week. Their offense really just didn’t show up, and nothing worked.
Zach Wilson has already been ruled out which means that Trevor Siemian will be getting the start under center. After gaining just 12 yards on six carries, Hall really can’t do any worse this week. In order to control the offense and game flow, following a blowout loss last week, the Jets have to do better. Quite simply, it’s just impossible for it not to be the case, and it has to start with Hall. The talent is not a question and facing the Washington Commanders gives him a good matchup to get back on track.
Wide Receiver
Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers, $5,300
The Green Bay Packers are shorthanded when it comes to receiving options this week, which means Romeo Doubs should be busy. Jordan Love has emerged as a solid signal caller which in turn benefits his receivers.
Doubs has been on the receiving end of seven touchdowns this season. With Christian Watson and Jayden Reed dealing with injuries, Doubs should pick up the volume by default and we already know he can find the end zone.
Tight End
Tucker Kraft, Green Bay Packers, $3,700
We did say that the Packers were shorthanded, so targeting two of their receivers isn’t too outlandish. Based on your lineup build, either Doubs or Tucker Kraft could fit nicely.
Kraft has taken advantage of the injuries to both Watson and Christian Watson while forming a connection with Love. Kraft has four catches in each of the last two games, for 64 and 57 yards, along with a touchdown. We haven’t seen any reason not to expect a similar effort on Sunday.
Defense
New York Jets, $3,100
It feels like I’m doing something wrong with Jets entries among the Week 16 NFL DFS picks, but their defense should not get lumped in with the struggles of the offense. Facing a Washington Commanders team that has allowed the third most DK points to opposing defenses also helps here.
With 12 interceptions, seven fumble recoveries, and 39 sacks, the Jets defense has shown the ability to make things happen throughout the season while allowing 19.9 points per game.
DFS Stud
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, $7,600
It has been a strong season for Mike Evans, and he looks to keep things going this week against Jacksonville. The Jaguars are one of the worst teams against opposing receivers this season which bodes well for production on Sunday.
Evans is already past the 1,000-yard mark this season and he is up to 11 touchdowns. In five of his last six games, Evans has found the end zone, and there is good reason to expect him to do so again on Sunday. There has been some real chemistry established between Evans and Baker Mayfield and the floor is pretty high here.
DFS Value
Chris Rodriguez, Washington Commanders $4,500
For the second straight week, the Washington Commanders will be without Brian Robinson. As with last week, Chris Rodriguez will step into Robinson’s role while Antonio Gibson retains his volume and role.
Last week, Rodriguez failed to truly take advantage of his increased volume. He gained 35 yards on 10 carries with a long run of 11 yards. From a fantasy perspective, things should be a lot easier for Rodriguez against the New York Jets. Opposing running backs have success on DraftKings against New York so that puts Rodriguez into a good start. After a quiet week last week, Rodriguez could fall under the radar this week.
DFS Bust
Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins, $9,600
The most expensive player on the slate is trending toward playing this week, but it is unclear how healthy he truly is. Dallas is a tough matchup for Hill, and while we can’t dispute the success he has had this season, it is a tough investment in Week 16.
