Fantasy Football 2024: Week 3 RB Rankings

The injuries are upon us and if you have Isiah Pacheco, Christian McCaffrey or Joe Mixon then you are going to need to see my Week 3 RB rankings. The first thought is to grab the handcuff to these running backs, but, likely, Jordan Mason is already taken. But, there are still viable options based on matchups out there such as Alexander Mattison against Carolina and Justice Hill against Dallas.

Injuries are part of the game, but these next few weeks are going to be crucial for picking up RBs for the rest of the season. We are starting to see trends like Rico Dowdle getting more carries than Ezekiel Elliott and Mattison getting the goal-line carries over Zamir White. Also, it could be time to put the panic meter on D’Andre Swift going forward.

Running Back Notes

  • Alvin Kamara is my RB3 for the week. Kamara is starting to look like a league winner after his ADP was around the fourth round in most leagues. He dominated the Cowboys last week scoring three rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. But, the important thing besides the touchdowns was his 20 carries for 115 yards. He is looking like a workhorse and is a must-start every week no matter the matchup.
  • Next, I have James Conner as my RB11 at home against the Lions. Conner has looked amazing this year and the Cardinal’s offense is looking high-powered. Conner went into the season as a low-end RB2 or flex option and now he is looking like a RB1. He has scored a touchdown each game and I expect that to continue against the Lions. The Lions did shut out Rachaad White, but Conner is a much better back and is a must-start this week.
  • J.K. Dobbins is my RB20 this week and is looking like the pickup of the year. However, I think this is the week he finally comes back down to earth. He has the Steelers this week and they are only giving up 14.1 fantasy points per game to running backs. Dobbins is averaging 9.9 yards per carry, but he did go against the Raiders and Panthers. The Chargers are 2-0, but their offense looks lackluster. Dobbins has been the bright spot, but I don’t see him breaking for a 40-yard rush or more every game. Dobbins is a flex option this week, but be aware of a lower score this week.
  • Lastly, Brian Robinson Jr. is my RB15. Robinson is looking strong to start the year. He scored 16.4 fantasy points in Week 1 and 14.1 fantasy points last week. That is more fantasy points scored over Jonathan Taylor, Bijan Robinson, and Jahmyr Gibbs. This week Robinson has the Bengals who are giving up 18.4 fantasy points per game to running backs.
