Weekend Waiver Wire for NFL Week 8

So many more wide receiver injuries in Week 7. Some fantasy teams are devastated. Are you devastated? Do you need help in your lineup? I have you covered here like one of those giant hoodie blanket things my daughter likes.

Who are these must-stashes that you need to add prior to the Sunday start? Well, I’ll tell you below.

Week 8 Weekend Waiver Wire

Quarterbacks

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers

The coaching staff of the Steelers were right Wilson played much better in his one start than Fields has all season. He passed for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns, he also ran for another touchdown in Week 7.

Drake Maye, New England Patriots

Drake Maye has two straight games with over 20 fantasy points. I know Week 7 was against the Jaguars who are horrible defensively but we have to take notice. Maye has passed for 5 touchdowns in his two starts. He has been very productive and makes this entire Patriots offense better.

Other quarterbacks to consider:

  • Jameis Winston – Cleveland Browns, Now the starting QB for the Browns, with a very easy matchup in Week 8.

Quarterback Notes: I would prioritize these 3 in the order I have them here. If you are QB-needy, add one of these guys now.

Running Backs

Ray Davis, Buffalo Bills

Ray Davis has double digit fantasy days in two straight weeks. He is not surpassing James Cook in the pecking order, but he is carving out some standalone value. 6 touches for 47 total yards and a touchdown in Week 7. I would at least keep my eye on him.

Jaylen Warren, Pittsburgh Steelers

Warren led the Steelers in running back snaps in Week 7. He had 51% of those snaps. Warren is a very good running back that will start to chip into the production Najee Harris has had. This is a team that will use both of these running backs if healthy.

Other running backs to consider:

  • JaMycal Hasty- New England Patriots, 2 carries -2 yards, 5 receptions, 49 yards, TD
  • Tyler Goodson – Indianapolis Colts, 14 carries, 51 yards, TD

Running Back Notes: If Alexander Mattison is available I would make him a priority add. It’s hard to believe that Ray Davis is still not highly rostered as well. Warren is going to increase production as he led Steelers running backs in snaps in Week 7.

Wide Receivers

Rashod Bateman, Baltimore Ravens

I actually stated I did not have him as an addition because of the Ravens scheme which spreads the ball around. If Zay Flowers is out, I want to play Bateman this week. Bateman has been hyper-efficient recently with only 4 receptions in each of the last 3 games. But also 9 or more fantasy points in those games.

Cedric Tillman, Cleveland Browns

Many people are saying “Who?”. Amari Cooper is now in Buffalo. Tillman saw 12 targets, which he turned into 8 receptions and 81 yards in Week 7. He led all wide receivers in targets in Week 7. Jameis Winston is going to sling it and Tillman will benefit from this a lot.

Other wide receivers to consider:

  • Jalen McMillan – Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 8 targets, 3 receptions, 15 yards
  • Troy Franklin – Denver Broncos, 6 targets, 5 receptions, 50 yards

Wide Receiver Notes: I am not a huge fan of investing in the Ravens passing game because there are so many branches on that passing tree, but if Flowers is out I like Bateman a lot for Week 8. I am very interested in Tillman, could be a big-time game-changer for you off the wire if you are in need at wide receiver.

Tight Ends

Hunter Henry, New England Patriots

Since Drake Maye has taken over at quarterback for the Patriots Henry has become the focal point of the pass attack. He has 14 targets, 11 receptions, 133 yards, and a touchdown over those two games. Henry will be involved and should be rostered in every league.

Will Dissly, Los Angeles Chargers

Dissly was the focal point of the Chargers pass game in Week 7. His stat line looked like this: 11 targets, 8 receptions, 81 yards. More importantly, The Chargers were moving the ball better than they have all season with Dissly heavily involved. At the very least put a watch on him and monitor what he is doing.

Other tight ends to consider:

Jonnu Smith – Miami Dolphins, 7 targets, 7 receptions, 96 yards, TD

Tight End Notes: Henry is the primary add here again. I keep talking about him and people just don’t want to add him.
