This is the first update of the dynasty shooting guard rankings since my initial one in the preseason. We are now a month into the 2024-25 season and a handful of players have vaulted up and down in the rankings. The rookie class hasn’t made much of an impact to this point as only four cracked this ranking. Let’s take a look at some of the dynasty risers and fallers in the early part of the season.
Dynasty Risers
Jalen Williams, OKC Thunder
Williams has officially taken his fantasy game to the next level. He is the only player averaging at least 20 points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block this season. Throw in the fact that he’s shooting .513 from the field and .800 from the free-throw line, he virtually has no weaknesses. In his last eight games, he is averaging 23.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.0 steals, 1.4 blocks, and 2.0 three-pointers, while shooting .577 from the field and .909 from the free-throw line. Williams is cementing himself as one of the best young dynasty players in the game.
RJ Barrett, Toronto Raptors
Barrett has shot up 13 spots in the dynasty shooting guard rankings. The main reason is his big uptick in assists He ranks 13th in assists among all players who have played at least 10 games this season. Barrett is one of only four players averaging at least 21 points, 6.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 three-pointers and one steal this season. The other three players are Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and James Harden. He is currently setting career highs in points, rebounds and assists. His dynasty stock is without a doubt on the rise.
Dynasty Fallers
Anfernee Simons, Portland Trail Blazers
Simons has seen his fantasy statistics go down nearly across the board since last season. He averaged 22.6 points per game last year, but he has scored 15 points or less in half of his games this season. Simons is shooting a putrid .382 from the field, which has led to him averaging only 16.3 points per game this year. He will have Scoot Henderson breathing down his neck for playing time if he continues to struggle. Simons has fallen a staggering 15 spots since the last update of the dynasty shooting guard rankings.
Rob Dillingham, Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves actually traded up to the eighth pick in the draft to select Rob Dillingham. He was drafted as the future backup to Mike Conley, who is 37 years old. Dillingham has only played in seven games this season, with most of those appearances coming in blowout games. He has not eclipsed 1o minutes in any game this season. Dillingham was ranked 20th in the last update of the dynasty shooting guard rankings, but he has dropped out of the top 50 for the time being. His future is still bright, but he might not be unleashed until Conley is a free agent, which is after the 2025-26 season.
