Whether your QB is injured or flat-out not performing, we can find a few QBs this week to get you by. We know winning your leagues takes a lot of work. Don’t fear! FantraxHQ is doing the work for you. Whether it’s matchups to exploit, injury replacements, or flat-out hot takes, we’ve got your fix. In this article, we’ll highlight three potential quarterback sleepers and streamers for NFL Week 14 that could help you win your matchups.
Week 14 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers
Mac Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars
After a vicious (but, not particularly dirty, if you ask me) hit vs. the Texans, Trevor Lawrence will be forced to sit out this week vs. the Tennessee Titans. That’s bad news for Lawrence, but if you need a QB to stream, Mac Jones is probably my favorite option on the board with this matchup. According to PFF, the Titans are 27th out of 32 in terms of pass rush rank. So, Jones having time to go through his reads should be no issue. The Titans are also 17th in the NFL in coverage, so the windows will be there for one of Jones’ first few reads. On top of that, the Jaguars rushing attack has been average enough that I don’t anticipate the Jaguars being able to lean on the run to milk the clock and win the game, no matter what the game script dictates. Lastly, replacing Lawrence last week led to 256 yards passing and 2TDs. And that was against a Houston team that has a better pass rush and coverage ranking than the Titans. This is a plus matchup. Don’t be afraid to let Jones lead you to a fantasy win, if you’re in need of a QB this week.
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
Derek Carr has thrown for over 250 yards passing once this year. Once. He hasn’t thrown for 3 TDs since the first week of the season. He has almost zero rushing upside. All that said, I’m getting ready to make a case to stream him this week vs. the Giants. While the Giants have a top-ten pass rush, the Saints have a top-ten rushing attack that will force the Giants to stay honest and not send a blitz every time. If Carr has time to throw, he should have no problem exploiting a 20th-ranked coverage unit vs New York. Lastly, Taysom Hill is now out for the year. While that doesn’t seem like a big deal for most in fantasy, the fact of the matter is Hill was a consistently used weapon when healthy. He was used in the red zone, as a quarterback, a running back, wide receiver, you name it. At the end of the day, Carr will have his traditional QB role back, with no momentum-altering Hill-focused packages to take Carr out of rhythm. He’s not my favorite play, but I think he’ll have a solid Week 14.
Aidan O’Connell, Las Vegas Raiders
I feel like every week I’ve offered up Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell to have a breakout game. After all these weeks, AOC was the one to come through. A broken clock is right twice per day. With the Raiders matchup vs. the Bucs in Week 14, AOC will get a chance to prove me right again. The Bucs have the 17th-ranked pass rush and 15th-ranked coverage unit. Nothing to be afraid of. But here’s the kicker: Baker Mayfield has been playing MVP-level football and their three-headed rushing attack will likely have the Bucs comfortably leading all game. That means AOC should have a positive game script toward the passing game for the entire 2nd half. Last week he threw for 340 yards and 2TDs. You can’t fluke your way into that. AOC has talent. He’s in a great spot to show more of it this week.
