Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Monday, June 9, 2025. In today’s report, we get an update on Shohei Ohtani’s foot, Bryce Harper’s elbow, Jorge Soler’s groin, and Matt Chapman’s hand. Also, it would appear that we have four big-name players returning to their respective lineups this week, which is great news for fantasy owners everywhere. All of this and so much more in today’s MLB Injury Report from Fantrax.
MLB Injury Report
Shohei Ohtani – UT/SP Los Angeles Dodgers
Shohei Ohtani was hit in the left foot by a pitch during the 8th inning. He is fine. But #Dodgers will once again postpone his live BP. Will throw to hitters on Tuesday now.

Ohtani was hit in the foot by an errant pitch, but stayed in the game without any worse for wear. That being said, his scheduled live planned bullpen session for today has now been moved until tomorrow as a result. The team likely wants to give him every chance to succeed, and the possibility of any foot pain could lead to overcompensation or mistakes with his delivery.
Tony Gonsolin – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
Per #Dodgers Dave Roberts, scans of Tony Gonsolin's sore elbow showed the UCL is intact. He will stop throwing for an undetermined period

Gonsolin recently went on the Injured List for right elbow discomfort, which is always a scary diagnosis. The good news here is that the elbow is still intact, meaning surgery may not be necessary anytime soon. Still, he will need time to be shut down from any sort of throwing before picking things up again. It’s unclear when he can return to any sort of baseball activities.
Bryce Harper – 1B Philadelphia Phillies
Bryce Harper has been placed on the 10-day IL with right wrist inflammation and Otto Kemp has been called up.
— Lochlahn March (@lochlahn) June 7, 2025
Harper ended the month of May by getting hit on the elbow by an errant pitch, resulting in a bruised right elbow and a handful of games missed. One week later, he is diagnosed with right wrist inflammation and will now miss at least 10 days while sitting on the Injured List. It’s hard to tell if these two injuries are connected, but it’s hard not to connect some dots here. For now, keep this at face value as coincidental ailments, but there’s a chance that it’s not as incidental as one might think.
Jorge Soler – OF Los Anegles Angels
Jorge Soler (groin) says he doesn’t know if he needs to go on the IL. He’s getting some more tests tomorrow.
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) June 8, 2025
This is an issue that started on Wednesday and resurfaced over the weekend. Chances are that he misses some time here, whether it be a handful of days or at least 10, as recurring injuries tend to bring about the attention of the medical staff and players. Stay tuned.
Chicago Cubs – Team Update
#Cubs injury updates:
-Porter Hodge threw a 30 pitch bullpen yesterday.
-Shota Imanaga threw 37 pitches in his bullpen yesterday. He will pitch in an Arizona game Monday.— Taylor McGregor (@Taylor_McGregor) June 8, 2025
Both items here should be considered good news. First, Porter Hodge throwing a 30-pitch bullpen session is great news, as he is battling both an oblique injury and a hip impingement. How he feels in the coming day(s) matters most to see if he can do this again or even take it another step forward. As for Shota Imanaga, his 37 pitches signified his readiness for a rehab assignment that will begin today. It’s unclear how many pitches the team is targeting per start, but multiple rehab appearances seem to be in the cards for him.
Matt Chapman – 3B San Francisco Giants
Matt Chapman got x-rays on his right hand and nothing is broken, he said. He said jammed his fingers backward when he dove back to the bag.

Great news here, as these sorts of injuries could lead to an extended absence due to the freaky nature of how they happen. There is no word on if he will need a day or two away from the team, or if he’ll avoid the Injured List altogether, but the chances of him not playing this upcoming week seem slim.
Zebby Matthews – SP Minnesota Twins

— Minnesota Twins (@Twins) June 8, 2025
Manager Rocco Baldelli said yesterday that this issue arose with his start in Sacramento. He didn’t recover quite like he should have, so both Matthews and the team decided to get it checked out. It is worth noting that both Lopez and Matthews have both hit the Injured List with a shoulder issue after starting in Sacramento on an unusually hard mound, as mentioned by fellow teammate Joe Ryan. It’s hard to say if there’s any connection or if it’s just a coincidence.
Zack Wheeler – SP Philadelphia Phillies
Zack Wheeler will start Monday night vs. the Cubs. Mick Abel and Jesus Luzardo will start Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Baltimore Orioles – Team Update
Injury updates from Tony Mansolino:
• Jordan Westburg is “trending” to be back Tuesday.
• Brandon Young (shoulder) threw a 3-inning live bullpen today in Aberdeen.
• Cedric Mullins took live ABs off Young. Mullins will likely be back for Detroit or Anaheim series.— Jacob Calvin Meyer (@jcalvinmeyer) June 8, 2025
Big news here for Baltimore. It looks like both Cedric Mullins and Jordan Westburg will be back soon. This is fantastic news for both fantasy owners and the Orioles, who would use the offensive boost. Be prepared.
Eury Perez – SP Miami Marlins
Pérez to complete return from TJ surgery with season debut Mondayhttps://t.co/5hjlu2LaJd
