If there’s one certainty in our weekly starting pitcher rankings it’s that only a few pitchers are matchup proof talents. Just in the last week we’ve seen several top 15 ranked overall pitchers, like Framber Valdez and Spencer Strider, get roughed up by tough matchups. That’s why the weekly rankings can vary greatly from season-long ranks. However, it seems there are times when you start certain pitchers, like Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal, blindly against any matchup each week. We take those anchors and liabilities into consideration this week given the stakes of playoff matchups.
