Top Picks to Win the Genesis Scottish Open

The Genesis Scottish Open is this week’s co-sanctioned event with points available for the FedEx Cup and the Race to Dubai at stake.

The Host is The Renaissance Club, lying 30 miles east of Edinburgh, in the world-renowned “golf coast” area of Scotland. Players will be greeted with stunning views overlooking the Firth of Forth and, of course, the weather.

Once a 300-acre pine forest, planted after World War II, the links course, designed by Tom Doak, was stripped of trees and shaped into the links we know today. Opening in 2007, it’s a par 70 and 7,282 yards in length.

The Renaissance club will welcome the top golfers in the world, including world number one, Scottie Scheffler and last year’s Scottish Open winner, Robert MacIntyre.

Always a well-attended event as it’s a perfect test for the players hoping to lift the Claret Jug at Royal Portrush in next week’s Open Championship, and with thirty-two of the top fifty golfers in the official world golf rankings in attendance, it’s set to be a stunning week of golf.

Top 3 Picks to Win the Genesis Scottish Open

Scottie Sheffler (+360)

It would be easy to pick the world number one and favorite for the tournament. So, I did. Scottie continues to impress, and it’s difficult not to think he will win again. Already having three wins this year, the question is whether he can replicate that form on a tough links course.

Xander Schauffele (+2000)

The reigning Open champion finished tied 15th last year and will be hoping to emulate his form on links golf courses. Still waiting for his first win in 2025, he remains a favourite whenever he’s teeing it up.

Aaron Rai (+6000)

Aaron was tied fourth at last year’s Scottish Open and won in 2020; he also leads the way in driving accuracy, a statistic ideal for the punishing roughs at the Renaissance Club.

Hot Pick: Adam Scott (+5000)

The experienced Australian has seen it all before, runner-up at last year’s event, followed up by a tied 10th at the Open Championship. This year, Adam was in the running at the US Open until a final round 79, which ended his challenge, but he finished a respectable tied 12th.
