MLB Injury Report
Austin Riley – 3B Atlanta Braves
Snit said Riley will be further evaluated over the next day or two before the team decides if he will go back on the IL
— Mark Bowman (@mlbbowman) August 3, 2025
This feels like par for the course here for the Braves, as it’s yet another hurdle for them to clear. Riley struck out on Saturday, but with the game being suspended until Sunday, he played in the field and likely hurt himself tagging out Elly De La Cruz. With it being an internal injury, the team will do its due diligence to ensure that all measures are taken for his long-term safety. This could be a season-ending injury, though that could be jumping to conclusions. However, fantasy players would be wise to ensure that they have a viable backup, just in case.
Jacob Misiorowski – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Miz says he didn’t recover as hoped from the Seiya Suzuki liner that hit him on Monday. He expects to miss 2 starts and come back after the 15-day minimum. pic.twitter.com/NLKtIPZjVK

Just an awful break for the Brewers, who will now be without their budding ace for the time being. Luckily, for now, this doesn’t seem to be a long-term concern, but it is something to monitor. The team called up Logan Henderson to take his place, and it’s unclear if he will be used in multiple starts, as he has already accumulated a significant number of innings in 2025.
Chandler Simpson – OF Tampa Bay Rays
OF Chandler Simpson hasn't played for #Rays since leaving Thursday game at #Yankees with left index finger sprain. Said to be available off bench. Didn't start today vs. RHP.
Simpson on his status: "Just trying to make progress with hitting and fielding and stuff.''— Marc Topkin (@TBTimes_Rays) August 3, 2025
It turns out that the injury he sustained was more serious than we first believed. Simpson has yet to return, though he’s been available off the bench more than once. He was also slumping at the plate before the incident, so perhaps he’s doing his best to break out of that funk, too.
Los Angeles Dodgers – Team Update
Dave Roberts on Tommy Edman (right ankle sprain): "I just don't see how it's not an IL."
That likely means Max Muncy will be back tomorrow as the corresponding move, and it opens the door for Alex Freeland to get a longer run with the Dodgers.— Sonja Chen (@SonjaMChen) August 3, 2025
Tommy Edman injured his ankle while running the bases, and it looks like he will need at least ten days to get it right. The good news for the Dodgers is that it appears Max Muncy will be activated very soon, possibly even today, meaning that we could very well see the official transaction being Edman out and Muncy in. If that isn’t the case for today, it feels like it will happen soon enough. As mentioned by Sonja Chen, Alex Freekand looks poised to get a longer leash here and a chance to grow and develop with the team.
Kyle Bradish – SP Baltimore Orioles

— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) August 3, 2025
Not an ideal start for Bradish, as he ran into trouble and only lasted three innings. If there’s any silver lining here, it’s that he didn’t walk many batters and struck out one batter per inning. All that being said, with the Orioles out of contention and building for next year, there is no rush for them to activate him. He will seemingly utilize all 30 days of his rehab assignment and use his time with Baltimore to prepare for the 2026 season.
Ryan Mountcastle – 1B Baltimore Orioles
#Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (right hamstring strain) won’t be returning tomorrow in Philadelphia. Tony Mansolino said they’re going to give Mountcastle a couple more rehab games in Triple-A.
So may not be back during Philly series. Hamstring is feeling good, though.
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) August 3, 2025
The good news is that Mountcastle’s hamstring is feeling good, so there are little to no worries there. He’s been rumored to return against the Phillies, so it may happen later in the week. Nonetheless, this shouldn’t be considered a setback.
Shane Bieber – SP Toronto Blue Jays

According to Arden Zwelling, Bieber reached a speed of 93 mph and touched 94 mph six times. For reference, those velocities haven’t been seen from Bieber since the 2021 season. While it’s hard to say if this would be something we would consistently see, it’s very encouraging nonetheless. It remains to be seen what lies ahead for Bieber with his new team, as he could make his Blue Jays debut, or the team may want to see more from him first.
Tyler Mahle – SP Texas Rangers

Mahle has been out of action since the middle of June with a right rotator cuff strain, but is seemingly making his way back to the mound within the next few weeks. His return has been a slow and purposely cautious one that has required long periods of being shut down. Assuming he can get back to the mound in two weeks, he’ll still need an extensive rehab assignment, too, which could mean that he will only have a handful of limited starts left in him before season’s end.
Alec Bohm – 3B Philadelphia Phillies

— Tim Kelly (@TimKellySports) August 3, 2025
Bohm also hit in the batting cage and fielded ground balls, which, when all put together, means that he is pain-free. Excellent news here, as the Phillies could have another weapon back in their lineup for the final six weeks of the season as they move toward a potential NL East pennant and a playoff spot.
