Finally! The 2025 NFL season is now upon us, and we are ready to jump right in. Week 1 is always interesting, as, at this point, there’s not much difference between those rankings and our preseason rankings. Enjoy this week, as nothing will be clean and clear for the rest of the season. Unless you are playing DFS and looking for value plays, there’s no need to really go far down the list this week. With that being said, let’s jump right into the Week 1 Tight End Rankings.
What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2025 season.
Injury Notes for Week 1
Considering it is Week 1, this section is relatively quiet. As much as we’d like that to be the case, as we knock on all the wood, that likely won’t be the case.
Isaiah Likely, Baltimore Ravens
After a foot injury about a little over a month ago, the start date of Isaiah Likely’s 2025 season was in doubt. As he didn’t practice on Monday, that remains unchanged as a timetable that referenced the “early part of the season” was previously given. This serves to boost the utilization and value of Mark Andrews while Likely remains on the waiver wire.
Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Previously, there was some doubt surrounding Cade Otton as he was working through a leg injury. Seeing Otton practice on Monday, albeit on a limited basis, was a good sign. However, he should just be left to deeper leagues and value plays for Week 1.
Tight End Notes
Tyler Warren, Indianapolis Colts
For good reason, there’s a fair amount of buzz around Tyler Warren. The rookie enters the league off a dynamic season with Penn State. Warren figures to have a big role with the Colts, and having Daniel Jones under center should serve him well. Through the summer, Warren was consistently the number one option at tight end and a legit receiving threat.
Jones brings a level of predictability and conservatism to Indianapolis’ offense. That means Warren could be busy as Jones likely won’t look to do anything too crazy down the field.
Evan Engram, Denver Broncos
This is a situation where I get to see if what I thought would happen actually takes place. After dealing with injuries last season, Engram is healthy in 2025 and joins a new team. We get year two of an ascending Bo Nix with Sean Payton on the sidelines. The offense is set up perfectly for Engram to excel in a role similar to Jimmy Graham’s in New Orleans. It should also be a good matchup at home against the Tennessee Titans to begin the season.
Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons
I can’t do it. I simply can’t quit Kyle Pitts. This season is different, or at least that’s what I tell myself, as the value is there. So, that is what makes things different. Well, among other things.
Pitts now has Michael Penix under center, which should help him reach his potential. They appeared to have locked in some chemistry over the summer, which shouldn’t be surprising considering what Pitts should be capable of. That’s especially the case after he burst onto the scene in his rookie season. The problem is that he hasn’t been able to repeat it just yet.
Elijah Arroyo, Seattle Seahawks
If you want a dark horse this week, and we’re going far down the line, Elijah Arroyo is it. The rookie’s upside led Seattle to part ways with Noah Fant. If the physical tools translate, and Arroyo can stay healthy, the rookie from Miami can make an impact from the start.
